Recuerdos is a short film that explores past-life experiences through two brief encounters between strangers. Taking place in the Alberta Badlands of the 1930s, and a contemporary Spanish coastal town, this fictional work traces the walking journey of two woman who appear to navigate their way to desolate locations where they each cross paths with another person. The first character meets a disillusioned settler, about to leave a village depleted by the Great Depression, with plans to join the International Brigades in the Spanish Civil War. The woman in the second story helps a tourist find the oceanfront by walking him through a quiet forested area. Parallel experiences, cyclical notions of time, and fleeting moments of intimacy are presented through the juxtaposition of these stories.
