Toby Adelman epitomizes the selfless woman. In June of 2012 she made the difficult decision with her only daughter, Shy, to donate her kidney to someone whom she’d never met. One day, Toby read an article in her local Jewish paper written by the papers’ former editor asking if anyone would consider giving up a kidney, as he was a stone’s throw away from dialysis and more frightening uncertainty to follow. Toby remembered Marc for all his work in the J. from years past. Though she had never had the pleasure of meeting Marc, she felt a strong connection through his work over the years. After a discussion with her daughter, Toby embarked on a journey - slightly dangerous and extremely emotional. |
