Disney didn’t buy the show. BBC still owns it. Disney only has distribution rights. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, I’m not pro Disney, just anti-nonsense.

lol, the point is money was paid.. and yes disney “bought” the distribution rights. All I know , is I didn’t much like the first episode, due to the way the doctor was portrayed.. The gender-ish stuff that in referred to with the whole “Disney” thing don’t matter to me, in sci-fi, cause sci-fi has always explored different viewpoints and “cultural” thangs.. I , myself believe that is good for the thinking mind, wether I like it or not.. I think it falls under the speculative fiction blanket..
Disney only bought the streaming rights. They have no creative control of the show. Russell Davies has complete creative control. Sony, the BBC, Bad Wolf Studios and Disney can offer input, but in the end Davies is the only one calling the shots. He has said before that he is a fan of Disney, in particular Pixar, and that he wanted to add more fantasy elements to the show. Anyone not liking it should blame Davies, not Disney, but for many that won’t fit into the anti-Disney narrative some are pushing now.
folks will adjust what they write in order to attract a buyer.. buyers will buy what they like.. so its safe to presume either way.. is there an anti-anti-disney movement ? .. lol thats a lot of ants being chucked around.. I thought the maestro was a well played character.. much better than the portrayal of the doctor.. I at least could watch the whole second episode..
managed to watch 17 minutes of that drivel, before pulling the plug… seems like the writers had never watched a dr. who episode in their lives. Bad over acting, and that fella is not the doctor.. Jodie at least acted like the doctor, she just had crap scripts ,. I reckon they have finally killed dr. who. for me at least..Others may like it, I am just dissapointed..
6 stars .. my one critique is the butchering of mack the knife, could have been a rival to selma’s bit in dusk till dawn.. i liked the “campy” feel to it all..
It has a strong start. In addition to the writing & production, it’s well-cast. Edgerton is what Spacey could’ve been. He’s stepping into the territory of Tatiana Maslany of original Orphan Black, but he seems up to the task. They all are. Connelly is extremely tough & versatile, and Alice Braga is as good as her aunt, Sonia Braga.
yep, the acting and production is all top notch..The show and storytelling draws you right in.. I hope this one goes all the way
probably a regional thing. that video is popping up as video unavailable for me and that’s definitely a regional issue.
I don’t get all of the hate from the comments on this movie. I am so happy I did not read the comments before I watched, and even more so glad I waited it out for a really good copy to come along.
This was a fantastic edition to the franchise. Yes they did a lot of fan fair with people who were in the film. But they are trying to build a new franchise with new lead roles. The original cast want to help pass the legacy along. Which I love. Even Bill who swore he’d never do another Ghostbusters after part two has now showed up in 3 more GB films. It was amazing to see them back in New York also. The movie was fun, had comedy, had drama. It was a great films. Well worth the watch. 4 stars all the way from me. Give it a watch, you won’t regret it.
I agree fullym just finished watching it now.. gave it 5 stars, just because it was good.. I watched the first one in the theatre, with my wife and baby son, he just turned 40 on may 1st..
That sounds like a good idea. I watched the first one, and agree. Might also look and see if they are going to make a second season, or if they are just going to drop it at the end of the first, or if at the very least will bring it to a conclusion with one season, rather then just making one season and leaving us hanging.
2 episodes then wait and see what happens. I like that idea. Enough to see if it’s worth it, but not enough to tick you off if they screw us over….again….
Yeah, looks like a slow telling of a story with cliff hanger endings..i will wait for the season to be done before I watch any more.. feels like a long drawn out episode of the twilight zone.. kinda dissapointed already ..
well done.. not a new concept, sure hope they get to tell a complete strory before it gets axed.. I watched the first episode, will watch the second, then i will wait till the last episode is out.. I hate investing time into a show that is good but never gets to finish the story, or is just a series of cliffhangers with no ending.. First episode is pretty good..
after arnie said “screw your freedom”, I will never watch anything he is involved in again..
the short episodes kinda killed the flow.. soent most of ep. 5 trying to recall who was who..
It’s based on a series of 3 Asian-themed books, so the finale was perfect in line with that. There will not be a season 2, but there might be adaptations of the other books in the trilogy, Tai-Pan and Gai-Jin.
there are 6 books in the whole series.. shogun, escape,gai-jin, king rat, noble house, and whirlwind . The asian saga.. read order is different than as i listed em.. all very good books..I highly recommend reading them.. I am an avid reader, I binge book series like I do movie and tv series .. at present I am burning through the works of david eddings…
I cannot remember where I read it exactly, but there is talk about continuing with both Tai-Pan and Gai-Jin! We can only hope! (⺣◡⺣)♡*
I was think that same thing at the end of the show.. The folks that made this series would do a dang good job of it too.. My fav of the whole series of books was tai-Pan..
The 1st Bradbury book I read. I hate to be that guy, but this is one that is a must-read.
My first one was something wicked this way comes..Man that was a gooder too..
I discovered Bradburywhen I was in grade 6.. Read most everything he’s written. Gawd, I remember this movie when it came out, I was a bit dissapointed of course. Still, it is a must watch movie and pretty good :)
what is kevin hart even doing in this movie? they completely mess up tiny T ..I will just pretend I never played the game, Kinda like the last fantastic 4 movie, it was ok if you knew nothing about the FF.. lol
I hope it will be good, I have doubts though..hopefully the story has some value, cgi alone does not a good movie make..
I cant believe how much the scenery looks like Fallout 4. I played about 1000 hours of it and they definitely nailed it. Almost finished with ep1 and so far its been mind blowing with the attention to detail they used with everything. Looking forward to more.
I just finished playing through Fallout new Vgeas and Fallout 4 the last 5 months.. So the shows timing is prime for me.. The kid from the fridge bit is brilliant..
Man, I hope they find a way to make more seasons of this show.. It is bloody awesome..
Wow, she’s blonde now.. I wonder if we will eventually get the whole story of miss V ..
Was a bit drawn out in places. fast forward saves the day .. lol .. first episode did not really grab my attention aall that much.. hope it picks up..
I’m not able to tolerate Maher anymore, but I watched this episode for my man Max Brooks. He’s always a can’t-miss for me; so smart and funny. Nothing fazes him. That is so appealing.
The dragon was dang good,, meh on the rest.. it was ok..definetly worth watching once..
This is a fun movie, but not great. Millie Bobby Brown is a casualty of Hollywood believing that they really are superhuman. At her young age she is a huge icon for all that’s wrong with the Hollywood image. The amount of plastic surgery she’s had is shocking. She was a talented child, but is now a publicity hound and grabs the spotlight without consideration for her co-stars. This is a one time watch. I hope she gets real one day. What a tragedy to believe the lies of publicity.
and gtmo is still up and running today.. yah america.. home of the free..
The silliness of Master Chief tooling around invincible without armor…vs yum, Master Chief’s expressive face, without armor
So they can have Kai and chief do klingon like courting .. She will snap out of her dummy spell and help chief retrieve his armor,,do some spartan smooching, and go save the day.. lol who knows. Still my fav show at the mment
Blackthorne is only mentioned a couple of times in other books. Dirk Struan, the main character in Tai-Pan, and his descendants are a large part of Clavell’s Asian Saga. His books were filled with racist stereotypes, but given that he was a Japanese POW during WW2, it’s not surprising that his views of that part of the world are a bit complicated.
yep, i’d have to look to see much , been a lng time since I read the books. I know I loved em. Great story it was .. probly pretty much everything from before the 80’s would be considered “racism” nowadays.. lol.. I might rewatch the old shogun series after this one. It was pretty good as I recall…
No wonder so many people got triggered it depicts accurately how horribly Christian Caucasians were treated back then, and no I’m not Christian I’m just stating fact. Good show love seeing how it’s portrayed correctly
You should read the rest of Clavells books. shogun to king rat, noble house to whirlwind.. If I recall right Angi-san is the ancestor that runs through em all.. ?? Clavell calls islamists the most dangerous people on earth.. That would tweek some noses today .. lol It has been 30 years since I read them all.
I thoroughly enjoyed that …
