Cuties (2020)
elb11 10 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I did watch the whole movie, I’m a mama and a grandma, that being said, it was mostly sad and heartbreaking to me because you see a preteen girl adjusting to adolescence under extraordinary circumstances, new home, no friends yet, family dynamics changing unwillingly and all the while trying to still be a good daughter/sister. It was hard to watch some of the actions she took but sadly its what the majority of girls her age and even boys that age go through every day. If you’re an adult now you’ve been through it too, it’s called HORMONES! But it’s also what they see every day, it’s on TV, music videos, video games, movies, celebrities, older siblings, parents, other family members, friends, at school, on the streets, in everyday life sadly and especially the MEDIA.

Was this childporn? Not in my opinion, was it too risque for the age of the actors, yes in my opinion. But unless you live in a dark colored bubble this type of thing happens all around us all day long sadly.

I drove a school bus for many years in a very rural, small town and the middle school kids were the worse kids to deal with, the things I would have to break up or write up or report about was ridiculous and why, because they are going through that horrible age when all they want to do is grow up fast, do what the adults are doing, explore all the new feelings and urges that are racing through their bodies as they adjust from being children to being teenagers etc (been there, done that).

If you read the info about the movie in depth as I did before watching it you’d see the author was speaking from what she went through and trying to bring awareness to
and for parents about what their kids are most likely experiencing so that maybe the parents will be more attentive to their kids, in this day and age of every one having access to the internet and having a TV or computer/video games babysit their kids, which is in almost 80% of the households nowadays.

Did it need “may contain adult material warning” probably not in my opinion because everything that was shown was what you see on most local broadcast tv channels. These girls are actors, the main character’s actor was 14 yrs old, the others were the same or younger, would I personally let my daughter at that age play that part, nope, but that’s how I was raised and how I raised my daughter, but their parents may have other ways of dealing with things, do I agree with their decision, nope, but wasn’t mine to make. Would I want to see my 2 granddaughters acting like these girls did, no way, but sadly just because you raise them a certain way doesn’t mean they will always act that way.

Pedophillia is a real thing sadly and I for one do not feel it is normal, no way, no shape or how, so the best we can do is teach our kids right from wrong and what to be aware of, keep a vigilant awareness of them and their surroundings, and hopefully your kids won’t ever feel the need to reach out to strangers for love, reassurance or feeling of self worth. If you’re an adult and you watched this movie and felt sexual stirrings of any kind, that’s not a good thing in my opinion. If you watched it and felt outrage and disgust, well that could mean different things too in my opinion. If you watched it and felt sadness and were heartbroken then you are the writers audience, because you will be the one to be more aware and try to make a difference for your kids growing up, again my opinion.

The dubbing was horrible truthfully, and I have to have subtitles since I don’t hear as well as I’d like so that made it even worse with the outdated terms and lingo they were using for the English language dubbing. The videography was normal looking to me but like it was done from the ‘90s. The culture differences were very apparent in their geography/language compared to what I’m use to in the USA, and yes somewhat shocking as to what the “Auntie” did with “Shaman” but it may be normal in their culture.

If you don’t watch it you shouldn’t comment on it. We ALL have different opinions on what we like or don’t like, that’s whats called being individuals. I don’t like horror, gore or scary movies yet I’m not trying to get them removed, I just don’t watch them, simple as that. I thank the uploaders for their work, otherwise we couldn’t watch all the stuff we watch. But a lot of people are jumping on a bandwagon they don’t or won’t try to understand the true meaning behind before deciding to destroy it, and that’s not right. If you think this film is bad you should watch the movie named KIDS from 1995, it’s on here look it up, its from USA, New York no less, and see how those kids act, it’s another semi-biography of the lives of more preteens at risk following them for like a few days. It will open your eyes to what’s out there and you will hopefully watch out for your kids better.

When I first watched this it like a slow wave creeping over me, building into a crescendo almost over whelming. Beauty in nature, in life, in our innate desire to express ourselves share our being and harmonise together. I know this likely sounds like rubbish but honestly I adored this documentary, the music and message was powerful.

∞ ( Infinity )/5.

I have requested it be added as honestly I want more people to watch it and be brainwashed, this is some hippysh1t right here, and I love it.

I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)

This film is akin to ‘science of sleep’ or ‘eternal sunshine of a spotless mind’ in that it mixes moments of mundane, awkward reality with the surreal. The plot itself may not seem as linear as other films but this does not lessen the value or quality of the film

You are a moron, how can a fictitious film from 20 years ago be pro Trump? I am very liberal and I love this movie, because I saw/see it as what it is; a satire and warning of things that might be possible. Warren Beatty, who also wrote and directed this, is a staunch democrat. Unfortunately, he lived to see his fears come to fruition. He is still alive at 82 and I’ll bet he can outwit you any day.

4/5 Reminds me of little miss sunshine only with a lot more drama.
Okay so this isn’t my normal type of film, only watched due to the controversy and its a good film, decent acting.

I am not the target audience, namely I am not a female child but….The dubbing is horrific and some of the dialogue ‘ yo, you be buggin girl’ lol.

Exploring sexuality , copying celebrities seems normal now days. Im surprised this got so much media attention. I liked that it imitation of music videos but using the kids you see direct effects those music videos have on young minds.

Some of the scenes are heart breaking, the girls adoration of the cool kids felt very real, she wants their life, their power.
She wants to escape her life and her future as her mother.

The twerking scenes and I know this isn’t what you’ll want to hear but I found them funny in an awkward way
so bit that is actually troubling is the adult who does sexualise them ( security guard ) as they themselves are largely unaware of their own sexuality and its effects on others.

If your looking to be offended skip into like 1:00:00 mark, just to save you time.

The scene in the mosque is damned powerful and alien and scary, two cultures meeting and clashing. The point after the mother brings in the ( I think he was a) Imam direction of entire film changes.
The Niqab wedding wife and the ghost bit is funny, nice recall to earlier chat she had with her younger brother.

Gayniggers from Outer Space (1992)

Don’t know what the big deal is. The movie is made be African-Americans and stars African-Americans. We were made to understand by pretty much everyone that they can use the word as they see fit whilst other races can not.

xerox 2 points 3 years ago.

I think people are confusing black exploitation films and the more self aware side of that genre like ‘blazing saddles’, or ‘coonskin’ that do not devalue black american persons portrayed or the actors involved.

Just FYI I am pretty sure the guys behind it are white Europeans, dutch from memory. Though NGL I only really know the fatmans stuff who seems pretty white but that shouldnt stop this film from existing

LOL. Why would RIGGERS want to make way for an entirely-homosexual society ?

xerox 7 points 3 years ago.

Rigger was is term from shipping , person who hauls lifts ‘tugs’ roping of the ship. A industry at time who was synonymous with liberation including sexual.

While more modern use of the word rigger rigging is a person who engages in bondage, using ropes to lift and suspend someone.

Though the correct title is ‘gayniggers from outerspace’ which once again is a reference to a the film ‘gravediggers from outerspace’ .

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969)
somniloquist 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

You’ve stepped back too far then. I’m talking about these students looking at that painting. You’re talking about a viewer of a film looking at these students looking at that painting. In the (fictional yet plausible) context of the film, these are actual people looking at an actual painting. And that painting was done in 1912, in oil, on canvas. You can’t impose the medium of film atop a painting in a film. You can only impose the meaning of film onto the film itself.

xerox 1 points 3 years ago.

I can however presume that disney was filled with artists of various types who more than likely were aware of what they were doing. But you are probably right, bad habit of analysing beyond object into medium et etc and contextualising. The art works intention cannot be changed retroactive but its potency, value and intention of why it was selected within the film, why we were given privilege of seeing it in a new context. Fun stuff though, but your probably right.

The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes (1969)
somniloquist 2 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I suppose I would say (without getting too far into it) to the students in this film (which I have never seen) that looking for nudity, looking for the human form at all, in that painting is missing the point almost entirely. I would say that Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2 (which I would assume is the version they were looking at) chiefly holds the purpose of capturing movement, secondarily how light would play a roll in perceiving that movement, and thirdly perhaps the passage of time in a still image. This is what Duchamp was exploring by even working in the cubist genre at all. I would say that those students, or any students, ought to mentally and conceptually back up from the work and forget about trying to compare it with ‘real world’ physical space.

xerox 1 points 3 years ago*.

Yes but the film itself is the layering of singular images , composite framing creating the perception of movement by the projection and denial of light. I am unsure if film about a human being as computer who was only able to recite base information had perception other than recognising its existence, while the non-genius boys in most primal being sought to find beauty of some kind, neither finding the value though they themselves are captured and rendered by the thing that creates the medium they exist in ( a past passage of time captured) . But Im big on visual poetry of it all. Given that it is disney film and it was more so at time littered with artistic persons I believe it may have been a deliberate choice. But I’m likely wrong.

3/5(Hopefully wont be muted for writing too long a review this time) Surprisingly enjoyable film considering its seemingly low budget, characters have some obvious short comings but are carried well by the cast. Plot ignoring its obvious political / theological undertones is enjoyable in most parts though choices made by characters leave me feeling little disappointed in the writing. But it was nice to see that the otherwise simple story tried to have some deeper value even if it fell short by my own views.

Ok, first never seen this show before, I’m not american so this type of ‘news-entertainment’ is weird thing.

Is this news or is this not news, I realise news is largely no longer objective but still, guy needs to talk less.

Bland tanned man with quaffed hair and the brow of a chimp stares in seeming faux perplexed constipation.

Segments really seem to drag on with the casual banter, talking to me ( the viewer ) like were friends is just kinda tacky, weird rich dude stop chatting to me in that condescending way.

Is his hair real? He needs a moustache.

The never ending waving neon coloured flag and banner at the bottom of the screen are irritating. I do not need to know what channel this is on, nor which nation it comes from and I can hear what you are saying you do not need to write it down also. Waste so much of the screen.

2/5 meh not really funny and the information seemed its faster to digest a paper format in the time it took to watch that.

entirely forgettable film, I have now attempted to watch this film in its entirety 4 times each time getting to various stages, in truth I am confident that I had watched this film before while doing something else on my PC. So if you are looking for something to fill a void and have no particular desire to be distracted by the film then this film I can highly recommend this otherwise mediocrity.

Imagine if you can the grime dirty, murky cinematography of bladerunner now disregard that and make it shitty and sets seemingly torn from pages of middle management offices. Ghostwatch (1992)
somniloquist 5 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

After its initial airing, Ghostwatch was banned from being broadcast on the BBC for ten years. What was supposed to be a bit of a Halloween prank ended up with 30,000 calls to the BBC switchboard in an hour. In an ill-fated attempt to straddle fiction and documentary, the network failed to properly warn the viewing audience that what they were watching was definitely not real. Cut to thousands of British children watching a beloved kids’ TV presenter, Lesley Manning, being possessed by a ghost called Pipes.
In the wake of Ghostwatch an intellectually challenged young man killed himself after the pipes in his house began to knock like those in the show. There was even a medical journal report, with dubious validity, about kids showing symptoms of PTSD after watching the program.
Viewing Ghostwatch now you could never fully grasp the effect it had on a nation. It would look hokey and stupid. But before all of our minds were trained, by reality television and social media, to watch with a more skeptical eye, stuff like this could really do some damage. (Go find a British person between their mid 30s and mid 40s. Ask them about Pipes.)

Oddly enough her party has had two female leaders (who were also prime ministers) and yet the party that celebrated her death the most, the left wing of the labour party, has never elected a female to lead them throughout their history. I remember her fondly for the way she smashed the corrupt unions who had surpassed their mandate to protect the workers and were just on a power grab.

xerox 0 points 3 years ago*.

Likely both of those females aren’t nor will be fondly remembered.

I believe entirely from memory now that the majority of the house actually expressed sentiments of condolence and some of even commented sternly on behaviour of the masses upon her death.

It was largely the populous that celebrated rather than political party members, at least publicly. Very much error to celebrate death of any fellow politician publicly you’d be hoisted up runners of the gallows metaphysically speaking.

Why would they ever show a bunch of scumbags celebrating arguably the second greatest PM in English history’s death? That’s morbid and lacks class. Most people consider her one of the greatest leaders of all time not to mention an achievement for womenkind and a model for future female leaders everywhere.

xerox 3 points 3 years ago.

Public consensus on her was really rather harsh.

I believe the persons celebrating her death actually rocketed ‘Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead’ into first place for single sales.

It does seem to encapsulate public perception of her really rather well, and given reaction Jon Q held to government spending on the art work depiction of her which was mirrored in several presses seemed to well…Yes.

Throughout film it states and I am paraphrasing so you will have to forgive me that ‘people may not like her but people in future will remember her for good she did for the nation’ Which seemingly doesn’t ring true.

And utterly S.N. here but at time and even now she was ahem largely considered a traitor and loathed by feminists then and now on the whole.

BearCity 2: The Proposal (2012)

Yeah, okay so if you made it here you have hopefully taken the time to watch ‘bearcity 1’ If you haven’t please leave this place this very moment and go watch it before continuing.

I enjoyed the first film because of the relationships dynamics and power plays and chased romance and now we ‘sex-in-the-city-it-up’. Is marriage in the air, will the relationship come to true fruition? Has/will that nasty medical issue break hearts?

God I wish this was as good as the first one, and its okay its more meh than its predecessor but I wouldn’t bother unless your mad for bears or really must know what happens next in this faux soap-opera’esq story of love, romance and large hairy-men.
But gotta say the support cast and development of their relationships save this film for me at least.

3/5

BearCity (2010)

Okay, so undeniably this is niche viewing, gone are falsities of art house cinema and pretension. Here we have bearcity, now I may at least in part be intended audience and I wasn’t expecting to get drawn into the plot… But I loved it. The side character relationships I cared about these people, their lives and loves.

Cinematography meh. Soundtrack meh, acting passable. But it just resonated with me on an emotional level. 4/5

The Iron Lady (2011)

‘ding dong’. Wonderful performance and highly enjoyable film that focuses largely on personal relationships rather than career. 4/5

Many familiar faces fill the cast and carry it well, overall stellar performances, the moments of lost memory are heart wrenching and superbly acted.
I found some of the audio effects unbearable at times eg hushed echoing of her children pleading.
Cinematography largely muted dullard tones seemingly catching a nostalgia of older cinema.

Thatcher (ignoring my own stance) undeniably polarised the nation, I myself knew some who vastly gained from her reign, while others, many others suffered.
Film seems to gloss over some of more interesting points, wherein her persona of iron lady was created is underplayed as a point but she carried this scene remarkably well ( but underplays her role in being first politician to create a persona , PR consultants and truly changed political game) .
The film does wonders to soften the ‘iron’ yet I struggle to forget the celebrations upon her death, understanding the reasoning yet saddened for her family and friends.
I found myself easily sympathising someone who was commonly compared to Hitler, the ravages and fragility of age are horrible.

The ending, I was honestly annoyed that it did not show the celebrations of her death, public opinion of her at the time and the ‘ding dong’
