Stargate (1994)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

Whomever the uploader on mixdrop is, I think you set the DVR run time or whatever you use was set wrong! I’ve never seen a 7:13:45 hour movie before. It does appear that the other links have the correct run time of the movie. I just find it amusing and at first I thought maybe a few seasons of Stargate had been added to the end of the movie, but that isn’t the case. 😁🙃😉

Big Sky (2020)
PonderThis 4 points 3 years ago.

This sounds good and Katheryn Winnick (Lagertha from Vikings)and Brian Geraghty (from Chicago PD & The Alienist) and of course Ryan Phillippe makes up the cast. I’ve liked the tv dramas that Phillippe has been in and hoping this is another good mystery!

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago*.

Someday, I hope to execute the perfect handbrake turn. But, alas, I will never probably do that since I undoubtedly won’t be in a situation where I’ll never have to execute that maneuver! 😁

Night and Fog (Short 1956)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

It was one of two documentaries that I was required to watch for a Film Lecture course while in college. Of course we learned about WWII in American History class in public school and we knew about the Holocaust. But I never knew the conditions in the camps nor what really happened. I left class that afternoon feeling very sick and shaken by what I had seen in that documentary. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that this happened; I couldn’t understand how a human race could do such things. And a recent study found that the millennials and the GenZ really don’t know about the Holocaust or they think it was fake. Again, I try to wrap my head around that! My dad was in the Army during WWII and it was not a fake war to him!

Well, as another poster said, this is certainly “different”. The whole choice of colour scheme is bewildering and over-saturated. Much like the music. Holy hell, I had hoped it would be toned down after the pilot, but nope. This is not boding well for my continued watching.

Costuming and music should enhance not overwhelm or distract from the story. The fact that I am here commenting on them more than the plot speaks for itself.

I think they are pushing too hard to create an atmospheric mood through the scenery inorder to distract from their inability to do so through story and plot and the shortcomings of the dialog. The heavy handedness of it is quite off-putting. It’s like I’m watching a Hitchcock/Lynch/Kubrick wannabe turned up to 11.

I am going to let the 1st two episodes digest a bit before consuming any more. Perhaps some time and distance will bring a different, more favorable perspective.

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

I may or may not watch episode 2. When GOT was so popular, I watched the 1st epi and couldn’t understand why everyone was so hooked on it. I decided to give it another go about 3 years later and really got into it. I have a feeling this might be the way I go with Ratched. Maybe I’m not really ready to spend a lot of time watching Sarah Paulson portray a complex crazy character and she seems to shine when portraying complex women who drift over the edge. It’s rather draining to watch the crazy do despicable things, I see enough crazy going on right now in the year 2020.

Battlestar Galactica (2003)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*.

One thing I’ve noticed throughout the 4 seasons, those frak’n hatch doors on Galactica always sound like frak’n crickets when they open and close them! Surely someone on Caprica had some WD40 to spray on those hinges! 😁

Ratched (2020)
PonderThis 4 points 3 years ago.

Well, that was very different and I’ll watch a couple more episodes then decide if I want to continue. I’m wondering why the costume department put her in really bright colors. And why are the nurses wearing turquoise uniforms? Seems rather odd for the time period because nurses always worn white uniforms. And they wore white stockings too and white caps. Judy Davis (from the Aussie crime drama Mystery Road) portrays Nurse Bucket; I fear she might be the next to go? And you can always count on Amanda Plummer to play a whacky character but she did inherit her good acting chops from her father.

It is truly creepy how much David Tennant looks like the actual killer! I often wonder how actors feel after portraying such dark characters? Does it affect them in any way, are they able to shake it off? Tennant is truly a gifted actor and the Brits really know how to do crime dramas! They didn’t go wrong by casting Tennant to portray such a despicable person!

Wanted (2016)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

This is a really good little drama! Rebecca Gibney is unbelievable in this and so unlike the characters she usually plays. And you’re thinking how do I know this since there are no links? Watching on another website. I know it will take a very, very long time for the uploaders to download the seasons. I know a lot of request have/will be made and I understand it can’t be added overnight. I do appreciate the work that they do! I was lucky enough to find it elsewhere.

I know that mixdrop has the option of u downloading the subtitles but streamplay doesn’t and that is the only links for the last 2 episodes. Can someone explain to me in simple wording how I can upload subtitles. But I won’t continue to watch until the correct episode 5 is uploaded. Thank you in advance.

Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains the Same (1976)
Alien 1 points 3 years ago*.

Hot damn! This movie is more exciting today than it was when I first saw it in 1976. The pure creative genius of Led Zeppelin is awe inspiring. I think Dazed and Confused went on for almost 30 min. John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards, John Bonham as the beat that drives the music, Jimmy Page as a master class in guitarmanship(so cute, too) and Robert Plant and his good friend Johnson oozing honey dripping vocals and sex appeal leave me both breathless and exhilarated.

Greatest band in rock history.

PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

Alien, there is a dark side to Jimmy Page! Read the book “Hammer of the Gods” and he was/still is into kinky sex. It amazes me how quickly Robert Plant could write the lyrics. Jimmy would spend weeks writing the score and Robert would have lyrics within minutes sometimes. It doesn’t matter what decade you’re in, their music still sounds fresh as it was on the day it was released. I could listen to Rain Song and All of my Love for hours on end. The strings in both is beyond good!

Modus (2015)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

You know when your local hoopla (digital library) has a foreign crime drama on its offerings, you know it has to be a good one! This one is and even though subtitles drive me crazy (I can’t work on anything because I have to read the subtitles), I will tolerate them for a good movie or tv drama! I’ve already requested links for the 2nd season and hope someone soon will upload the 2nd season. I’ve said this before, the Brits and Europeans know how to do tv crime dramas and are far, far better than what we have to put up with here in the USA!

Oh boy oh boy! Hugh Jackman is in this episode and you know he’s gonna look fine at age 30…he still looks good at 51! And he hadn’t done a lot of acting yet so this should be interesting to say the least. As I said before, you never know who is gonna pop up in tv shows from the 90’s.

Attention all Guy Pearce fans! Guy is a very young 30 year old in this episode…..this is all…….

Halifax: Retribution (2020)
PonderThis 0 points 3 years ago.

I’ve been thinking about the word “retribution” in the title of this crime drama. If you’re like me, you think someone from docs past is the culprit. Could it be a former patient? She also gives her expert opinion for the prosecution and sometimes it will mean jail time for someone. I’ve been watching Halifax f.p. and in season 2 there was a person who went to prison and one of the last things she said was, there had to be “retribution”! That certainly caught my attention and this person could have spent 24 years in prison and is now out of prison. Can’t wait to see the outcome of this fine new drama!

As I was watching this episode I kept thinking the 25 year old young man reminds me of someone. I kept watching wondering who is this guy playing Peter Donaldson? Then I noticed the slight lisp! I googled Ben Mendelsohn and SURE ENOUGH I was right! You may know Mendelsohn from The Outsiders, he played the detective Ralph Anderson and he was also in Bloodline and played the character Danny Rayburn. And he’s been in numerous movies usually playing the heavy. Even at age 25 his acting is spot on! I love watching tv shows from the 90’s because you never know who is going to pop up in one of them when they were just starting out in the business.

No season 2 of this unique drama and now we’ll never know who done it either! Abigail Spencer is a great actress and I took note of her in Rectify and enjoyed her in Timeless. Feisty little actress!

Harlots (2017)
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

Dang! WE won’t get a 4th season of Harlots! It has been axed and I liked this quirky little drama a lot! Saw a very young Lesley Manville in a 1990’s episode of Silent Witness and I mean young! She is actually a redhead.

Disturbing the Peace (2020)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I generally like movies that Guy Pearce is in, but this one is so so bad! His acting is fine but the acting from the other people in this movie is bad! Has Pearce found himself on the way out like Bruce Willis,Jean Claude Van Damme, and Mel Gibson? Why agree to make “B” movies? Maybe Pearce needs to find a good tv drama to make! His acting is still good and he’s still a good looking dude!

Dead Still (2020) S1 E6
Shade_Chylde 1 points 3 years ago*.

THIS was a show I truly enjoyed, and when I came back to watch the last 3 episodes, I saw that it was listed as “ended”. In the age of “Chrisely Knows Best” and stupidassed “Jersey Shore” spinoffs, it’s a DAMNED sad thing to see a show like this slip under the waves without a gasp after a single season… :(

PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

The series had been branded as a mini-series but although season 1 reveals the killer, there’s a lot more to be explored. Moreover, the show opened to good reviews from fans. Therefore, in spite of being a limited series, it holds the scope to span another season. If Acorn decides to bring back the show with a new edition, we can expect ‘Dead Still’ season 2 to premiere sometime in 2021…..keep those fingers crossed!

The Sea Wolves (1980)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

I have a passion for WWII movies and most of the WWII movies made in the late 20th to 21st century are rather good. You can count on authentic costumes and hairstyles for both men and women. Every detail is spot on to fit the era. But I can’t say that about WWII movies made in the 60’s, 70’s, and into the early 90’s. Case in point with this movie. The women were wearing long hair, not really how women wore their hair in the late 30’s & 40’s. Lipstick colors were wrong as well as the nail polish. Even the clothes the women wore was not right either. I could go on and on but if you’re going to make a time period movie then why not make it look like it takes place during WWII?! All of the actors were great in the movie, it was just the continuity was so, so wrong!

The Commander: Abduction (2008)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago*.

First thing is, I know how to request links and there seems to be a bit of a backlog on request. Nothing against the uploaders, I know you’re doing a great job. It hasn’t been easy getting the video library “restocked” after the site went down for several months about 2 years ago. I found season 5 on hoopla through my local library. I thought I was never gonna find season 5. Yet, if season 5 is anything like season 4, I may not want to watch it. The writing went way way down and not intense as it was in the first 3 seasons. It has been a good series thus far and I always enjoy British crime dramas.

The Fugitive (2020)
AriadneN 7 points 3 years ago*.

Wtf is this shit? Episodes are not even 10 min long. Lol, I reported some links before I noticed the posted run time and verified it elsewhere thinking it might be a typo.

I enjoyed Boyd Holbrook in Narcos and love a good twisty who-done-it but damn, 8.34 min long episodes. Maybe if I had known the runtime going in I would feel less disappointed, less cheated. I can’t see people making too much of an effort to seek out a <10 min show every day or two. Especially when it doesn’t really do much to blow your hair back from the jump.

Sigh, I guess we’re catering to the goldfish crowd now or maybe I’m just old fashioned.

PonderThis 5 points 3 years ago.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! And thank you for pointing out that the episodes are only 10 minutes long. I won’t be watching this drama at all for this very reason! Not sure what Quibi was thinking but maybe it’s run by a bunch of 20 somethings with the attention span of a knat!

Ratched (2020)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

Will Sarah Paulson play nurse Ratchet better than Louise Fletcher? In the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, Fletcher would give you more than stink eye! Sarah Paulson has some mighty big shoes to fill and we shall see come September 18th. I like back story shows like this; we learn what makes them they way they are in the future. Just like in the 2020 version of Perry Mason, we learn what drove him to become the lawyer he was later in his life.

With only 2 episodes left, there still hasn’t been any mention of Jaime’s (on again, off again) girlfriend who is pregnant with his baby! After what we learned about why Beth can’t have kids, Beth would explode and would she have some sort of revenge? From the trailer, looks like this season will end without knowing if Jaime became a father.

The Alienist (2018)
PonderThis 0 points 3 years ago.

Will it ended in a way that could produce a 3rd season. “TNT has yet to grant the series another renewal, there’s still a decent chance The Alienist will return for a third season, given that the books upon which the series is based leave plenty of content ripe for the picking.” I hope there is a 3rs season and set in 19th century. The writer of the books has a 3rs book but it takes place in 2016. But, he is writing another set in the 19th century and could become the 3rd season for The Alienist.

So far I’m liking this drama. It has a Fargo vibe and a little film noir thing going on. The shows that USA network produces are sometimes a hit and miss but this one is good and not silly and keeps me wanting more. I hope the USA network picks it up for a 2nd season.

Paydirt (2020)
PonderThis 4 points 3 years ago.

It is good to see Val Kilmer on the big screen again. I’ve always liked Val and he has done some decent movies over the years. His 5 year battle with throat cancer and the treatments for it has taken a toll on him. Because of the treatment, he had to have a tracheotomy and he has to speak by pressing the tube. He is hard to understand and his voice was dubbed for this movie. The guy doing the dubbing sounds nothing like Val, but it’s still good to see Val acting again.
