Britannia (2018) S2 E7
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

I have begun to wonder if several seconds of the episode(s) has been edited out somehow or not recorded at all. There seems to be something amiss! While watching “previous” clip, I see things that I didn’t see in the previous episode. Sometimes it is something vital to the story line. I’ve checked the length of each episode on a couple of other sites I use and sometimes there is a difference in length of the episode. Of course you wouldn’t notice this if there weren’t a clip of “previously seen” before the start of the episode. Does anyone else notice this? Just wondering and no need to submit an issue with links, because it’s not a link issue I guess or maybe it is…..

Fearless (2017)
greyfur -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

What the hell happened to all the links to this? There were links to every episode, several of them, a day or so ago, found this, checked the first episode, few minutes of it, found it was in English, decided to stash it for later to see if it was any good, come back and all the links were gone? WTF?

PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

I too noticed this drama and saw that it is out of France and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to watch it with subtitles. It does seem odd that the links disappeared. But, the links could have been for a British drama with the same title, “Fearless” which I’ve watched. It has happened before and recently too. Someone put up links for The Fugitive and those links were for the old 1960’s tv drama and not the 2020 version.

Back in the good ole days tv series aired 20-34 episodes a season. Now we’re lucky if we get 10 and many have a seasonal break too!

Britannia (2018) S2 E2

could do without all the modern music throughout. It’s quite annoying and distracts from the story.

PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago*.

I agree and during the 1st season there wasn’t modern music playing during the scenes. If you know anything about music from the 1960’s and what some young people experimented in/with, you might think of it this way. LSD and “magic mushrooms” would make people hallucinate on them. I sometimes see these episodes as one huge “trip” and we get to see what that hallucinogenic trip is like through the eyes of the characters. And what better music than music from the 1960’s that might have been inspired/written while on one of those “trips”. I was a grade school kid in the 1960’s and I loved the music from that decade and of course I really didn’t know what the lyrics really meant, I just liked the beat….😛😎

Britannia (2018) S2 E1
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

In season one I was still trying to figure out the correlation of Donovan’s song Hurdy Gurdy Man to this drama. Now Donovan’s Season of the Witch is front and center of this drama. I think it has a better correlation with this drama than Hurley Gurley Man. It also appears that the producer loves Donovan’s music and his music is unique and he has a certain sound. The 1960’s was a turbulent decade with so much unrest by the younger generation and maybe that is the correlation with Britannia.

Perry Mason (2020) S1 E7
PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago*.

Someone made the comment that this version of the character Perry Mason is weak. In the beginning I would say he was weak. He really had no purpose, he was just an investigator looking for evidence to help the client. I see Perry growing more and more assertive in each episode and this ONE case makes the Perry/dogged lawyer he later becomes. I watched Perry Mason as a kid and we didn’t know how he became to be the type of lawyer he was. Now we know and how and what planted the seeds that would take root and transform the man into a top notch lawyer.

Britannia (2018) S1 E2
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

After watching the first episode, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue watching this drama. I’m still undecided and will watch the 3rd episode. The cinematography is outstanding to say the least. But I was surprised with the choice of Donovan’s Hurley Gurley song as the theme song for this drama. I was expecting a dramatic instrumental specifically written for this drama.

London Boulevard (2010)
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I’ve always liked Colin Farrell and he played the character Mitch to perfection. I feel that the editing of this movie is why it didn’t feel right, as if there were important aspect were left on the cutting room floor after the film editor chopped it to bits. I’ve never been a fan of Keira Knightly and she didn’t fit the character at all. Ray Winstone is such a good character actor yet he seems to have become type cast. I will say the one redeeming aspect of this movie is the soundtrack! Some good kick ass songs from the 60’s and I wouldn’t mind having the soundtrack. It’s a good one of movie if you like Colin Farrell. Oh, I didn’t like the ending either and wasn’t expecting it to end that way……

Do you have an ad blocker on your browser? If so, that could be the problem so disable it for the time being and see if the version you pick will open. You might also use a different browser like Chrome or the new version of explorer. I have many websites I use (similar to primewire) and I can’t get one of the browers to open the website on firefox but it will open in the new explorer. This happened after I allowed firefox to do upgrades. Sometimes after a few weeks, firefox will suddenly let me open the other movie/tv show sites to open.

Okay, I did some research and this episode did end 7-8 minutes early and I like so many others thought we all got ripped off. And the trailers said 4 more episodes? Really, I see only 8 listed. Anyway, love this modern day western and Kevin’s acting has become top notch too! But I fear season 4 will be it for this fine drama! Why does me think that this will be Beth’s last season? Hope not, I disliked her in season 1 but she proved that she can work the system to her advantage and the Ranch. But, she may have gone to far this time! Rip might not be able to save her.

I’ve been keeping an eye out to see if you posted what you thought after you watched episode 2… I’m not sure if I can or should watch this series, for the same reasons you mentioned previously. Did you end up watching the 2nd episode of this current season, or did you hang it up after episode 1? I’m very curious to find out what you think of this current season, if you continued it! Even though season 1 is very dark and is about one of the most heinous types of crime, bc it involves children, is it still worth a watch bc it is so well done and or bc the storylines are so good? Is season 1 worth a watch without season 2??
Ps. Thank you so much for writing reviews! When I check out reviews for a show or movie I’m thinking of watching, I always look to see if you’ve written one! ☺ You write then so well and always have such thoughtful reviews! Thank you and major kudos!

PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

Yes, I continued to watch and I think the writers decided to not let the killer continue because viewers like you and me really don’t want to see this type of despicable killing(s) and to drag it out. But, they do take us on a journey into the mind of why women and other killers do this type of killings of children. I like seeing how detective work has evolved. Bellvue would have scared the s____t out of me because psychiatrics was still rather messed up and doctors did more harm than good. And it took years for the NYPD to establish good detective work and to listen to professionals who were learning to deal with this type of criminal. Have you watched Dead Still? It’s a fine British crime drama (set in the 1800’s I believe) and one of the detectives saw the value of forensic photography but had a hard time convincing the superiors that having photos of crime scenes would be worth having especially at trials.

One of the wonderful stars of this movie passed away yesterday, July 25, 2020. At 104 years old, Olivia de Havilland took her final curtain call and bow. She was one of the most gracious and poised actresses of the 20th century. One of the last of the golden age of film; rest in peace Melanie….Olivia de Havilland.

No, not live streaming and I use mixdrop when I have trouble with streamplay. I was/am trying to watch a French crime drama and I’ll see if I can enlarge the subtitles on mixdrop. Thanks again for your much appreciated help. Have a good weekend.

This might sound like a silly question, but is there a way to make the subtitles larger? I don’t have a flat screen television, I watch everything on my computer monitor. It isn’t a large monitor but big enough, yet I have trouble seeing the subtitles when I’m watching something 4-5 feet away from my monitor. Thanks and if you have suggestions, that would be great.

yes. do you know how to use the subs here yet?

On second thought, I guess if you need to ask if there are any, then you don’t know. Here’s how to get and use subs on PW—

Go to the show you want, then
Click ‘version’, then click ‘subtitles’, choose a sub, click ‘retrieve’, then click ‘download’.
Download to your PC.
Now, with a player that has a ‘cc’ button, click the cc button, pick and click ‘upload…’. Pick the sub file you just downloaded (the file name ends in .srt)
You’re ready to go.

PonderThis 3 points 3 years ago.

Thank you etim! Finally someone has explained how to get English subtitles in very simple terms that I actually understand! Now the question is, will I remember the next time I need to add subtitles? We need some smiley face emoji’s to add to our comments. Thank you again!

I liked this movie and I had not heard about this movie even though it was released 5 years ago. Does it rank right up there with Field of Dreams or Bull Durham and other sports related movies he’s done? I’d say yes even though this high school cross country track team never made the national headlines, it’s still a great story that happens to be true. If you’re in need of a feel good movie, then this is the one to watch.

Around the 3rd episode I thought to myself, she is Sarah’s daughter and I was right! I was thinking as I was watching this episode, I really didn’t think Arthur poked the hole in the fuel line. I’m still not sure why Ramon came after her and did he know she and Aki found the photos and is that why? Good drama with just enough scary parts to keep you on the edge of your seat. Clever girl how she set Arthur up too!

I know not all dramas that take place in the South Pole are going to be spooky. But, come on! You can’t possibly expect nothing odd to happen in such a remote place with no quick escape at all. Yet, the first episode has tweaked my curiosity and I will keep watching.

The Alienist (2018)
PonderThis 2 points 3 years ago.

Season one was finding the killer of young boys which was hard to watch. But, I’m not sure if I can take season 2 after watching episode one. Another dark season it looks like and yes, it is for affect but I find myself in a bit of a mind numbing wrecked state of mind after watching this episode. I’ll give episode 2 ago and see how I feel once it is over.

The Oath (2018) S2 E8
PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

Okay, I didn’t care for the ending and I guess it was assumed that a 3rd season would happen. I’ve watched a lot of cop shows and the first one I was allowed to watch was Hawaii Five-0 with Jack Lord (yes, I’m a child of the 60”s). I knew there were crooked/bent cops but I had no idea that there were gangs within some police departments. This cop drama was different and edgy and just wish there had been a 3rd season.

Excellent series. I’ve always liked Luke Evans. I just might start liking Daniel Bruhl.
I’m glad I’m starting it now while TV land is on hiatus.
One episode down, seventeen to go. Yessss.

PonderThis 1 points 3 years ago.

I know what you mean about Bruhl. I’m not sure if it’s the character he portrays or I just don’t like him. I may have to watch him in some other drama or movie. The King’s Men movie is set for release in September and a mini-series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is going to be released sometime this fall. So I shall watch them both and determine how I really feel about him. Now Luke Evans, I like and a lot and he’s also in a mini-series called The Pembrokeshire Murders and no release date as of yet, but maybe sometime this fall. That is if the series got it in the can before the virus broke out.

Oh Boy! I can’t wait for season 2 to start tonight! My friends don’t like this drama and I can understand that. Season 1 dealt with the death of a child and that is hard to take and watch. Just hope season 2 goes in a different direction and by watching the trailer, it does and looks exciting. Dakota Fanning still seems a bit ridged but I think the character she portrays is an uptight lady and women in the 1800’s certainly weren’t cops but she is making her mark though!

To my great surprise his dad is Wings Hauser and Wings was on the soap opera The Young and the Restless and that is where I first saw Wings (telling my age aren’t I?). Wings has been in many movies and tv shows and it looks like Cole has become a fine actor just like his dad. Now I see a strong resemblance to his dad and I kept thinking he looked like someone from tv or the movies!

I know what you mean. I have a strong constitution but knowing that this really happened and if there is footage or photos of the procedures, I don’t think I could stand to watch it. This is not a Hollywood movie showing a lesser ugly side of the human race, it’s not sugar coated. This is things that nightmares are made of.

Made in Auschwitz: The Untold Story of Block 10 (2019)
Themoo 11 points 3 years ago.

Europeans are already well aware of it. We’ve had school outings to Auschwitz to get a guided tour in painstaking detail of the horrors that happened there before even hitting the teens - of what happens when far right wing politics, fascism, is left unfettered. The end result of an elected leader who alienated allied nations, spoke of walls, promised to solve all the problems and then blamed such on minorities. Who stoked fear, hatred and division within his own nation.

That kind of history is already repeating.

I saw this movie when it first came out and I had never heard of the enigma machine. Just as I had never heard of code talkers until a few years before the movie Windtalkers was made. As far as I know, that has been the only movie made about the code talkers. I hope that Hollywood would make a better movie about the code talkers. They were an important part of the Pacific campaign. I do think all of the code talkers have now passed away. How sad that their stories have not been told in a proper manner.

I am an avid WWII movie fan and have watched many over the years. I do believe this movie is more realistic than any WWII movie made prior to the 21st century! Very intense to say the least and at times hard to watch. U-Boats were the bane of the Atlantic and many merchant Marines were lost to them. It was so crucial that an enigma machine be taken off of a sub to help combat the U-Boats.

Well, I may take back my good comment! I pulled this drama up on another website and used “streamplay” and the episode is TWO MINUTES LONGER on the “steamplay” link! Why did they do that?
