Blazing Saddles (1974)

Funny, silly, well acted.
There are a lot of offensive things in this and making fun of those prejudices and stereotypes are what makes this a true Comedy.
If you go into this without an open mind, then you will not see this for the forward thinking and genius film that it was.
In a time where racial, sexual and religious bashing was the everyday norm this movie camouflaged itself as anti-that way of thinking and did it well.

Videodrome (1983)

This movie is weird, entertaining but weird.
If you have ever wondered about those Cronenberg references in Rick and Morty then this can help you with that.

Should I watch this sober? No, I cannot recommend that.

Battlefield Earth (2000)
Yellowbeard 3 points 4 years ago*.

Honestly, battlefield earth is a fine book - but there’s 1300 pages of it. They would’ve needed at least a trilogy to do it justice, they left out a lot of genuinely funny and cool things to fit it into a single movie. This version bombed so hard it’ll be a long time before any studio touches it again.

Never have been a Huge fan of hubbard but I really enjoyed this movie and as for the other things he created and did with that fantastic mind of his, well, let’s just say I find them entertaining.

DUDE(ette?)!
Translation : I am most appreciative of your efforts on my behalf and hope you do not trouble yourself over much as merely watching this will suffice, but if you do find more I will jump up and down and giggle like the proverbial little school girl.
Amazing what meaning a single word can have, yes?

Awesome Sci-Fi classic, starring Michael Rennie! 4/5 Robo-Stars!

booger 3 points 4 years ago.

Awesome? Super Awesome! I say.
While this is not the typical Sci-Fi film I most often prefer nowadays, with its heavy moral message and light (relative) action sequences , it is the first movie that ever really made me think.
Like all movies of this era it was censored and still controversial in its day.
I watched a lot of television during my youth as a latch-key child and of the hundreds (if not thousands) of old movies I saw, very few do I remember.
The Day the Earth Stood Still, War of the Worlds and Forbidden Planet are my top 3 old timey movies with the latter being my fav and the former as a must see.
Thank You to the uploader and hope you add some downloadable links if you want.

Vagrant Queen (2020)

Funny!
This irreverent and campy comedy has me hooked!
I usually try to give any new series at least 3 eps. before I pass judgment but this one did not need it!
Does this have a lot of cheese? YES, but the ooey, gooey, stretchy kind that enhances what it’s put on rather than overwhelm it.
WARNING FOR DELICATE PALETTES
Except for the far too overdone sci-fi trope of the aliens using metallic chopsticks to eat with this episode was perfect.

Star Trek: Picard (2020)
booger 4 points 4 years ago.

Overall, a very good series.
Some people might nit pick about this, that or the other but I was too focused on enjoying the show to notice.
I would have been satisfied with a single season as it ended beautifully, but will look forward to what they offer next without prejudice.

Avenue 5 (2020)
booger 1 points 4 years ago*.

Could barely make it thru 2 episodes this was so bad.
It has everything it should have, good actors, good writers and a decent budget to boot! Just lacks chemistry or something, this did not elicit a single chuckle.
Will try to watch more episodes later just to see if I was in a bad mood or something maybe get drunk first to see if my opinion changes.

68 Whiskey (2020)

Really like this one.
Whomever labeled the genre got it right, drama then comedy, not that it lacks humor, there’s plenty of that and some of it silly enough to be true.

The Letter for the King (2020)

I enjoyed watching this.
While not genre defining, it is a good story with good acting.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
booger 3 points 4 years ago.

I remember my dad taking me my brother and our neighbor erin to see this when we were kids.
Our small town did not have an indoor theater with air-con and a high fidelity sound system or the preferred projector and screen this movie was meant to be shown on.
What our town did have was 2 loving fathers and a Drive-in theater.
Those 2 men worked with the owners and came up with a solution.
Problem: how to let 3 kids aged 9-3 enjoy this extremely popular movie in the best way possible?
Solution: Wait until the fervor dies down and bring in the kiddies.
Reality: The American Drive-in was/is an very chaotic place. You had row after row of cars/trucks filled with adults on dates or teenagers on dates or whole families complete with adults to screaming infants and of course you had the projector building that also housed the snack-bar with several rows of seats out front where people who did not want the younger children in the car with them sent them to be.
So our dads got together with the owner (I found this out decades later) and the rest (for the most part) of my first grade class parents (the owner had a kid in my class) to give us a little alone time to fully enjoy the movie.
So many months after it came out and just after I started the 2nd grade my father took all of us to a near empty Drive-in (except for about 20 other cars) and hooked us up!
We had couch cushions and blankets and pillows galore! A cooler full of sodas and pop-corn and nachos from the snack-bar as well as the excellent sound system our dads had rigged up (there was a low power broadcasting station within the snackbar/projector building)(I added this to let the unknowledgeable in on the fact that this setup was pretty much standard for drive-ins by the 70’s) of several speakers placed around the bed of the pickup we were in.
With its extremely large screen and the jury rigged sound system we were able to watch this film without any interruptions and we all came away with a sense of awe.

Heavy Metal 2000 (2000)
booger 2 points 4 years ago.

This movie was supposed to be based on the American version of Métal hurlant a french comic anthology that I loved and was called “HEAVY METAL” magazine in America.
Although the original 1981 movie “Heavy Metal” still remains my favorite with its anthology structured theme (like the OG) this movie still does the job.
So……..do I find this movie as good or better than the first? NO…Do I Find this movie entertaining! Damn Straight I do!
I am going to try my best to download this copy and add it to my collection since my original copies have severely decayed.

Comedy, drama, action it checks all the boxes.

I am enjoying this slightly over the top and not quite realistic cop show.
Of course the reason I watch TV and Movies is for their over the top unreality .

Wolf (2019)

Decent movie. I enjoyed it.
Yes, there could have been more action and yes there could have been better FX and editing etc. But if you focus on the negative you will miss out.
