I always enjoy movies at sea, and especially movies including submarines. And this was a critical time in the war. Had things gone a little differently, we could all be goose stepping. Hanks is excellent as usual…though I admit that I am a little curious about the movies he has chosen to do. Many have been about the war, or the war has figured prominently in them. Others explored religious ideas, like “The Da Vinci Code. Hanks is a hard core Liberal, and this seems out of sorts for his choice of films, as Liberals oppose war with a pasion, and disdain Religion. Hanks embraces both, and yet remains a Hollywood favorite, though he is personally a highly religious man, with an interest in warfare. It seems an oddity. Kudos to Hanks for managing to thread the needle of acceptance. A good movie to add to a collection that examined the men that saved the free world. The greatest generation.

1969 John Carpenter student film that was rediscovered in the USC archives in 2011. Only notable because it contains the seeds of what would become the highest grossing horror series of all time, Halloween.

Every developed nation on the planet has abolished the death penalty, except for the US. Pretty much the only ones still doing so are oppressive regimes and Islamic states. The death penalty is a barbaric practice that has no moral or logical value. Most of the world understands this to be true.

They all died, just as shown on the screens in the silo. The outside is as toxic as they always said it was, however the video showing it as a green and life-filled biome was just for the people going outside to make it easier for them. What a twist. We cried!

Project Power (2020)

This Netflix original is a very entertaining, easy to watch, and professionally edited semi-superheroes sweet treat. Jaime Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, combined with [relative] newcomer Dominique Fishback deliver on every level. I enjoyed its quirkiness and humour as well as its gore and imagination. Highly pleasurable viewing. 3.8/5

Seeing so many comments for or against “wokeness” I’d like to talk about thru actual show. The mature rating makes no sense. A 10 year old could watch this no problem. The action scenes aren’t very good crazy jump cuts to the past every other punch or kick. Her powers make absolutely no sense to me. Will have to search YouTube for an explanation. The best part was the first episode with daredevil that first episode was very good and kind of tricked me into thinking the show was more action based. Which it is not. Overall very boring but did get me excited for daredevil.

Some news on 2nd season: Netflix officially announced season 2 in January 2023, giving us fans the news we had been waiting for. However, here we are a year later, and production has still not yet commenced. The good news is that it will begin in April 2024, with filming now taking place in Ireland. Unfortunately, that rules out a 2024 release.

JadeEnigma 8 points 4 months ago.

Well that sux. Remember when we only had to wait maybe three months between seasons of our favourite show? And there would be much more than 10 episodes in a season, too.

Tucker Carlson Tonight (2016)

Yeah. The Association Fallacy, when two otherwise unassociated things share a property [or implied to], that they are then deemed honorably or guiltily similar [concerning otherwise removed things like -acts- and the -acts- leading to the acts]. Carlson and Neff worked together to produce material that overall condones, not condemns, white supremacy; white supremacist tropes whose only irony has been the dismissive sneer and fallacy-fellatin’ snarl and feigned ignorance deployed not for negation, but for promotion of said tropes. Sometimes, things correlate because they actually -do- cause [fuel, provide for, create] a subsequent thing, Cleavon: Associated because of the -actual- association. Both were paid well for that association. Both were contracted to be so associated. They helped promote each other, each one promoted for their ideas, those umbrella’d by white supremacy among them.

Neverminding -that-, it’s good to see you weren’t all that serious defending a standard bearer of white supremacist standards, employing the Association Fallacy in its truer irrelevant fashion when it comes to ‘both sides of the news world’ and -yourself- [appeals to popularity and authority show up at the kegger and ask where the gloryhole is].

And find better cliches to hang your sweet, sweet bike helmet on.

Here’s how to get and use subs on PW—
Go to the show you want, then
Click a ‘version’, then click ‘subtitles’, choose a sub, click ‘retrieve’, then click ‘download’.
Download to your PC.
Now, with a player that has a ‘cc’ button, click the cc button, pick and click ‘upload…’. Pick the sub file you just downloaded (the file name likely ends in .srt).
You’re ready to go.

Even Kurt Russell couldn’t save this monster/Godzilla free episode. It can only be hoped that the name of this episode - The Way Out - isn’t a foretelling for the series that is supposedly about Godzilla and company, not pure drama. 1/5 is being generous.

It’s not a southern thing. The residential local neighborhood mailbox trucks and jeeps have the steering on the right side. So they can stick mail in the box directly on the right side of the street without getting out. This has been the standard in the US for I don’t know, since ticky tacky little box house neighborhoods existed.

It’s pretty cool cause you can buy the retired jeeps and trucks for dirt cheap. I want to make a micro camper out of a mail truck. My friends in high school would buy them for their punk bands to move gear,

The Knick (2014)
Piglet 2 points 3 months ago.

In 2020, word was that a reboot/third season was in the works. Soderberg was developing the new season/series along with director Barry Jenkins and André Holland, who played Dr. Algernon Edwards in the original series. Since then, though, not much has be heard about this new take on “The Knick,” which is often a sign that things are kaput. But it seems like this project is still alive! Indeed, according to André Holland, “The Knick” season 3 will definitely happen. At some point. Holland revealed that he and Barry Jenkins “talked a couple of nights ago [about the new season] and he’s still in lockstep with creating a season 3.

The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks (2024) S1 E6
ThinMan 2 points 4 months ago.

Abused people, especially children, are susceptible to borderline personality disorder (which has dozens of classifications, not all of which are considered serious). I don’t appreciate the way the viewer never sees Natalia’s tears, but then again, I’ve never had to sit in front of a camera with my prolific abuser story-telling endlessly. Michael is a story-teller. He’s abused as well, but the biggest difference is that he was an adult and he is also accountable. The whole Orphan saga is kind of disgusting, unless the viewer realises it’s pure capitalistic propaganda.
