With a lot of good quality programs that get cancelled after one or two seasons, how is it even possible that this show is still on ? Maybe it’s time we let them get away…
max.black's comments
Kept seeing the chatter about this series popping up everywhere, so, just had to have a look for myself. Just finished episode 8, Totally worth it !! I now have another favorite, and, like you all, am already wanting more…lol A big Thanks for the all the comments that brought me here !!
Definitely a 70’s classic ! A must watch if you’ve never seen this before.
I was a little apprehensive about watching this series, as this type of program has been done many times over. Fortunately, CNN actually managed to do a decent job with putting this together. What’s different, is that we now have a chance to see and hear how more contemporary (and independent films), writers and directors were both impacted and inspired by the visions of their predecessors. The episodes are long, but each is intertwined with facts and updated commentaries from actors, critic’s, directors, educators and other industry types. imo, this was actually more informative and interesting than I’d thought that it would be. I even discovered a few movies that had slipped under my radar that I’ve listed to watch. If you’re a film buff, you will probably enjoy the series. I’m currently three episodes in and plan on staying with it.
Excellent film ! This is one of those underrated movies that falls into the cult classic file’s. The genre listed above says it all. If you haven’t seen this already, add it to your watch list, it’s well worth it.
There’s also a good movie version from 1986, with Sean Connery and Christian Slater
One excellent drama that has more twists and turns than a corkscrew !!
A true classic !! This film features one of the best lineups of male supporting actors, many who would later rise to fame in there own right.
Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson make for an interesting pair in this one…good interaction between the two make it worth a shot…7/10
Film-noir horror. Great suspense. The original “love-hate” image. A masterpiece. 9/10
I loved the lighting. The set designs were pretty unique if I remember correctly….
I think it looks binge-worthy, but the husband thinks it looks like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Shreck. I guess time will tell.
Love this! Thanks jillyr for commenting and drawing my attention to it to check it out. I had not heard of it before even though it’s an HBO Series, which makes what I often find a bit boring, ie period pieces, so interesting! I’ve only watched the first episode, but can tell this is going to be one of my favs.
Just binged the first season…A great period drama set at the beginning of the industrial revolution…totally and thoroughly enjoyed it ! Anxiously awaiting season two !
If not the BEST concert video made I haven’t watched the best yet. I have watched this 4 or 5 times and my enjoyment never diminishes. Back when the talent and the music were REAL. When you repeat the same line over and over to the same beat you need 50 half clad dancers. Old and on the far side but we had MUSIC. 10/10
Like the t-shirt says “I may be old, but I’ve been fortunate enough to have seen some of the greatest band’s”…🎸👀
About to watch, just discovered this was here, been waiting for this.Might not be the appropriate venue to ask this question, not really sure, but have this on my ‘to watch’ list, so should this not have shown up in my schedule of airing shows? It did not, just happened to run into it…
first episode dropped early, that’s why you didn’t see it on your schedule.
That’s pretty true, Greyfur. I think that era pretty much passed with the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Still, there has been a handful of movies that stuck to the original formula…”Shadow of the Vampire” being the first that comes to mind…
The third and final film with Boris Karloff portraying the Monster. The inside lighting and long shadows alone, imo, makes it one of the leading predecessors to the Film Noire genre
I got here from the recommendation of max.black. Good entertainment, Kept my attention from start to finish. A great movie sundae with a twisty-twist on top. Thanks 8/10
Whew. This movie is terrifying how so close to the brink we can be.
This was mentioned in an article I’d read about ‘Threads’, so I requested some link’s after reading more about it…might be of interest… https://www.primewire.li/movie/129767-watch-the-war-game
Episodes appear to be scheduled to drop Friday 08/30..we’ll just have to wait and see.
THE DEUCE Back up and running after a year. Y’all need to binge this so you will be up to date and time is getting short!
On the schedule for 9/09.
Get your feet wet HERE
imo it could go forever the way it’s going. An apocalypse and redemption every season hooah
Another great film that couldn’t be more relevant to the current state of affairs going on around the world. We need a man like Howard Beale, now, more than ever.
Just beginning this series. I really enjoy Guy Pearce and found the Jack Irish movies good fare. I did not know this series existed until today. The first episode is adequate although knowing the characters previously adds extra enjoyment. If you like Guy Pearce watch the three movies first. 7/10
You may also want to take a look at the show “Harrow” to see if it’s something that you may like
you can’t really be a fan of MCU,DCEU, The Fox films or any other flick based on a comic property if you haven’t seen this.A 100 percent serious movie with people in costumes. I rarely if ever watch movies more than once, and can count the ones I do on two hands. Any who, I really wanted to give this a bump for any late comers, You have six weeks to catch it before the HBO series starts. The show runners have doubled down on saying that the movie is cannon and this new show will in no way screw with that. That being said I still say this is a must watch for the world building alone. The whole tone is more in line with The Boys than Marvel or Dc’s offerings. It’s the perfect standalone movie, right up their with The Matrix.
If you ain’t bonafide cuz you ain’t seen this you should sit down and watch it before you up and RUNNOFT to look at something else. This and The Big Labowski are to of my absolute favorites by the Coen bros. This movie is so re watchable and is one of the most quotable movies ever made.
I hear they are going to do a spin-off with the Jessica Pearson character as lead
Saw them play last night…they’re still going strong, staging and playing one hell of a show !!
Fantastic flick. Horror at its best. Ray Bradbury can’t be beaten. Ignore the old clothes, sit back with a bowl of popcorn, and enjoy this psychological horror film. It is chilling, scary, and superb.
Yeah, I started to think that a little bit after I posted, thinking might be they were looking to give the potential audience something to look forward to. Seems to me they did exactly that. Got my attention….
Now it’s wait another week for the second episode…unless the whole series was pushed forward by a week…
This was a really great episode, great series, overall a really great show. The characters are simple and yet so complex… not only a great casting, but truly phenomenal acting. Same dichotomy with the storylines, simple and yet complicated.
This is not a happy go lucky series, by any stretch of the imagination. And usually I’m not the biggest fan of something that is “this gritty,” very serious and a little maybe even dark at times. And even in its harsher/ nail bitting parts of the storyline; when the show is conveying/exploring & the characters are trying to navigate through said darker side of humanity, it was so well executed & deliberately thought provoking that I was always intriged and wanted to see more, and would think, “what’s going to happen next?!” In other words— Wow, I was captivated from the start to the finish.
I’ll have to write a full review later, but for now; I’ll just say it this way…. this show gets 2 thumbs up 👍👍 AND 5 st⭐rs out of 5 st⭐rs from me!!!!! ☺👌❤😉
Lore season 2, episode six tells about Jack Parsons that this series is based on.
Starting this new series to flesh out Sunday night, Not a bad start but I am not usually a fan of troubled teens giving main characters guilt trips. To be continued…7/10
I hear what you’re saying…still, a decent watch…just give it a few episodes.
Another excellent crime drama from the 90’s…pair this one with “Primal Fear”, and you’ll have the makings for some great viewing.
Why would both of our comments now have a value of 0. Yours had a minus 1 but I voted it back up. If someone takes exceptions to any opinions let then voice them.
Exactly !!
Unless there be trolls about !!
And, thanks for the bump back up again !
An enjoyable comedy from the BBC…Needs more episodes in the season !
