Luther: The Fallen Sun (2023)
grasshopper rex 2 points yesterday.

Idris Elba has done a couple of interviews recently where he was asked about the possibility of another Luther movie. “The chances are good. The chances are very good actually. I don’t want to make any exclusive announcements, but it’s looking good for old Johnny Boy,” he stated.

I would love it if they did one movie a year. I really love this show and this character.

I knew they would slip the Enterprise into this last season somehow. Good episode, but not great. Sort of slow and boring.

Hearing great things about this show. Don’t know why I hadn’t seen it yet, but I’m in now. Time for a catchup binge!

Tiger (2024)
AmieWarren 3 points 5 days ago.

I’m watching the documentary on octopuses right now, but this is next. I have to watch it, because my kids always called me “Tigger” when they were growing up because I never sat still and was always happy.

White Lies (2024)
AmieWarren 3 points 6 days ago.

This show is like a good book you just can’t put down, with an ending you could never imagine. I”d say I want to see a second series, but I read it’s a limited series, and the story is really over when it ends. This is must-see TV. It has it all, murder, corruption, perversion, and some truly horrible people. It’s definitely worth binging.

The first episode definitely makes you want to see more, to stay to the end of the mystery.

I was hoping this would be like Carnival Row, but it seems more like a scary show for children. Think I’ll pass.

Well, that was a fun episode! More like this please.

Witches of East End (2013) S1 E1

I either watched this or started watching it before, because I remember a lot of the 1st episode. I’m pretty sure I didn’t watch all the episodes though. It’s not bad, sort of a romance novel sort of thing, but it’s good for just easy entertainment.

Married at First Sight (2014) S17 E25
AmieWarren 1 points 9 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Once again, it’s clear why Emily has never been in a relationship, because she is so childish, a liar and cannot take responsibility for anything she did wrong. It’s just blame, blame, blame, blaming everybody. else. And don’t even talk to me about Loren! That woman is the instigator behind a lot of this after-show hostility from the women, saying the men are ugly and not someone she would have ever dated, that they didn’t live up to her standards, and having all the others agree with her. I swear, these men are so lucky just to be rid of these witches. One thing Chloe said struck me as very selfish. She said that you should never prioritize anyone above yourself. In a relationship, and especially when you have children, the other person will need to be prioritized sometimes. Like what if your SO or child is very sick. Are you just going to say “Oh, well I need to prioritize myself, so you can take care of yourself.” She’s the one who wanted all the animals and children, and he tried to compromise on that, but she refused to compromise. VERY selfish. That’s what I got from all the women, just selfishness.

Absolutely loving this show. One of the more original tv shows that is addictive, intriguing and draws you in. I look forward to each episode and it’s unfolding.

It gets better, too. The season finale will blow you away.

High Country (2024) S1 E6
AmieWarren 2 points 11 days ago.

This is a good show, but it has too much going on at one time in every episode. Hard to keep up. I have come to the conclusion that I definitely don’t want to move to the high country of Australia. Beautiful, yes, but too many crazies.

Had nothing else to watch, so started watching this. Now I’m completely hooked! What a season finale! Seems like everybody is in and out of that pond. Well, except Del. Maybe next season, they’ll let her in on the secret. I wish I had a magic pond. I wonder where it would take me back to?

Yeah! I loved his character, Fitz. He said intense, romantic, compelling things that I can still remember….

AmieWarren 2 points 14 days ago.

He has the most expressive face … especially his eyes. Sometimes it’s like you can see right through to his soul.

Are you kidding me? That would be amazing! I loved this show so much.

Law & Order (1990) S23 E9
AmieWarren 1 points 15 days ago.

Look! It’s Fitz! Started watching this at the beginning of it’s new run, then stopped a few episodes in before Sam Waterston left. Decided to watch again, and was pleasantly surprised to see Tony Goldwyn taking his place. I can’t help but see President Fitzgerald Grant when I look at him. For those of you who don’t know, that was his character in the TV show “Scandal,” which was an addiction for me at the time. Think I’ll keep watching, maybe go back and binge the two seasons I missed.

You tell ‘em, Amie! Man, I love this show.

AmieWarren 0 points 16 days ago.

I do too, but it’s filmed in the south, which would draw in a lot of people who aren’t as open minded as we are. I love the show, no matter what. It does have scenes where I have to avert my eyes, but all in all, it’s amazing.

Married at First Sight (2014) S17 E24
AmieWarren 1 points 16 days ago. (Contains Spoilers)

The women. OMG. They can’t even see themselves as they are. I will admit, I think Cameron is a snake and I think Brennan is totally emotionally unavailable, but I can see why Emily has never had a real relationship. Becca and Austin are just sad. Out of all of them, they are the only two that had a chance, but Becca wanted to jump in with both feet and Austin wanted to take his time. Chloe and Michael were OK until she started laying out exactly how their life was gonna be, with no room for compromise. He asked her to compromise and she said no, so what was he to do? The two that didn’t surprise me were Clare and Lauren. Didn’t like them from the get-go, even before the weddings. This was sort of fun to watch, but I’m not a big fan of reality TV, so I won’t be waiting in anticipation for next season.

The Young and the Restless (1973)
elb11 1 points 17 days ago.

Yeah I’ve watched since day 1 also at the knee of my grandmother then my dad after he retired in my teens lol, CBS from 1230EST until 4pm when all the soaps were still on…Y&R,TBTB, ATWT, then my fave GL. Yes Melody Thomas Scott is the original and only actress to play Nikki to my knowledge, she’s still the Queen of the mansion, recovering alcoholic mostly but slipped up recently with help from her nemesis Jordan(actress Colleen Zenk who played Barbara on ATWT on CBS for yrs before it went off the air)who was the sister of Eve Howard(actress Margaret Mason also on DOOL) who Victor had an affair with back in the day but she killed herself because Victor wouldn’t take her back so Jordan is reeking revenge on the Newman’s. Nikki’s sister is Casey a DR who lives in Cali I believe right now. Sadly since the main Mr. Bell (writer) died the writing has gotten sucky and repetitive way too much, but I still have to watch it lol, they’re like my 2nd family lol. The stories pretty much stay the same just maybe a different person endures the situation. I guess once it stops airing on tv I’ll stop watching it…maybe lol.

AmieWarren 2 points 17 days ago.

Looked it up, and Erica Hope played Nikki in 1978 and Melody Thomas Scott took over in 1979. Yes! Casey! I remember how disgusted she was when Nikki first showed up working as a stripper. Y&R, DOOL, Another World and The Doctors were my three shows. I watched The Doctors with my mom when I was a tiny girl. It went off the air, then I watched a few short-lived soaps until I didn’t have time to watch anymore. The reason we watched NBC shows originally was because back in the 60s, there was no cable and we could only get NBC clearly because it was the local station. We had VHF and UHF channels, and UHF needed a rooftop antenna to come in clearly. We never had one, so we just watched NBC.

The Young and the Restless (1973)
Piglet 2 points 18 days ago.

I’m about to give away my age..lol….but I started watching this soap opera from day one! I was in junior high and my mother loved all of the soaps on CBS. But once I started college (and no such thing as a VCR) I didn’t have time to watch it or any soaps. I recognized Braeden from the tv series Rat Patrol and he was a German officer in that tv series too.

AmieWarren 1 points 17 days ago.

I watched it back in the day, but then I had kids and had to work all the time, no time to sit around and watch soaps. This was way before the days of recording shows, so I just lost track of it. I do remember the original Nikki from 1978, though. She was a stripper who went after Victor. Seems she was somebody’s little sister, but can’t remember who.

The strangest thing about this show is how no one thinks it’s weird when people show up soaking wet on bright, sunny days or freezing cold days. Also, how fast their clothes dry. I know it’s a fantasy, but c’mon!

Always liked black & white as film medium, now I’m reminded why. Great story, but more than that, the choice of black & white to tell it adds so much depth & texture to the Atmosphere - one of the most important, if not the most important “character” of the show.
Watch it for the story, it’s good.
Immerse yourself in the cinematography, it’s amazing . . .

AmieWarren 1 points 22 days ago.

I was raised on black and white tv. Didn’t have a color tv until I was 18 years old. The black and white is depressing to me. I need color in my life! Still, the story is intriguing thus far.

I did not like Lauren from day one, and this episode just confirms I was right. She is a controlling, sharp-tongued beeyatch. Girl, you ain’t even pretty. You need to work on your personality. Orion, you are way too good for that wicked witch. I’m glad Clare didn’t show up. She’s the other one I didn’t like. Another narcissistic, controlling B. All these girls are so self-centered, and they just feed off of one another. I say girls, because that’s what they’re acting like. I think Emily is an instigator, and I can see why she’s never had a relationship. Don’t get me started on Chloe. It all has to be her way or the highway. Mike, hon, just walk away from that one. You’re such a sweet guy. You deserve better. I feel like Becca and Austin really love each other, and hopefully, if they keep communicating, they’ll be able to work things out eventually. Other than that, it’s just a blame game with the women blasting down the men. WTF?? All these women are acting like children. It makes me ashamed of my gender.

That was a horrible ending. But on the bright side: “Professor T” has been green-lit for a fourth season.

I absolutely hate cliffhangers. Great season, yes, HORRIBLE ending. We had to wait two years for this season. Hope they don’t make us wait two more years for a resolution.

Married at First Sight (2014) S17 E5
AmieWarren 1 points 1 month ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I can’t believe I’m watching this. Had nothing else to watch last night, so just took a chance on it. So far, I don’t like Clare or Lauren. I feel like they are controlling and self-centered and will probably end up blowing the entire relationship up. Becca and Austin seem well matched, but he loves outdoor activities, so I think her health problems will end up breaking them up. Sad, because personality-wise, I feel like they are the best matched.

The Regime (2024) S1 E3

I can’t get into this show. It’s a little too off the wall for me. I don’t understand how desperate Kate Winslet would have to be for work to take this show. But for those who like it, more power to you.

Cannes Confidential (2023)
DownrightDebonaire 2 points 9 months ago*.

I was very much looking forward to this show and gave it three episodes, hoping it would fall into it’s own formula. Unfortunately, it never really feels authentic. It feels like someone said hey let’s make a destination show and hired the crew from CSI Miami to film it. The pilot is way too over dramatic and the timing/beats are all off. It stinks of western/Hollywood influence. From the extremely stylized (unnecessary) angled shots from the ground to show the exotic backgrounds to the cheesy one liners with sunglasses.

I was hoping to watch a show where I learned about the location and culture over the course of a season. Instead it’s this trope filled disaster with a mysterious back story about the father that just isn’t attention grabbing. Macdonald & Dobbs, Wong & Winchester, The Spencer Sisters, and DeadLoche are all executed much better, have more than just a single female lead and if you’re not from those countries you learn a bit about their culture and the laws there- they also have plenty of humor and the dialogue is easier to understand because the actors aren’t stumbling their way through rapid fire English dialogue as their 2nd or 3rd language.

It seems like it was made for American audiences but they pumped it full of the formulaic stuff we’re sick of. If you like the first season of Lucifer and the 1st season of CSI Miami look no further than this sloppy mashup

AmieWarren -1 points 1 month ago.

Well, there are only 7 stories in the world, so it has to be hard to make them feel original.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E6

me too, especially the period shows. But the original series was written and produced by Julian Fellows - this series is considered an adaptation of that, and not really a 2nd season. But the original is certainly worth watching.

AmieWarren 0 points 2 months ago.

Honestly, I watch for entertainment. I wouldn’t know Julian Fellows from Julia Roberts and don’t care as long as it’s a good show. Not that much into all the details. In fact, I usually forget most of a series as soon as it’s over.

Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024) S1 E6

yes, this “secret” was carried over from the 1st series. Freddie’s father was a gambler and a philanderer and was exiled to France in disgrace at the end of last season. His brother has finally told the truth about their mother’s “affair.” She was convinced that she could never get pregnant with her husband, so when she had the affair, they made the choice to “cover it up” and treat Freddie as their own. But of course, in Victorian London, the past always comes back!!!
