The Wheel of Time (2021)

I read somewhere that there might be a Thomas Covenant movie in the works.

booger 1 points 1 year ago.

Thomas Covenat, now that’s a name I haven’t thought about in awhile, heck I didn’t even know there was a 3rd chronicle.

Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022)
booger 3 points 1 year ago.

Not bad but not great.
They did an adequate job of setting up character back stories or motivations without a lot of re-hashing, but the pacing was off, a bit rushed imo.
Lots of action scenes but with few scenes that set tone or to build suspense/anticipation until close to the end.

Farzar (2022)
booger 2 points 1 year ago.

Meh.
This has all the things that has made several other animated shows popular but none of what made them good.
Disappointingly bad with elements of pointless stupidity and transparent and lazy humor.

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
booger 1 points 1 year ago.

Decent movie. Lots of nostalgia callbacks, even has the part in the middle where it slows down the action to focus on romance just like the original.

Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
booger 2 points 1 year ago.

Not bad for a sequential sequel, could have been far worse. I really liked it.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
booger 3 points 1 year ago.

I do have prejudice when it comes to comic book properties so found this excellent fare.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
booger 0 points 1 year ago.

Very Good Movie. This movie has everything action, adventure, romance, etc.
Silly, serious, and everything in between.

The Lost City (2022)
booger 3 points 1 year ago.

Funny, entertaining and not afraid to make fun of itself.

Firestarter (2022)
booger 1 points 1 year ago.

This was a good watch. It did not have that intimate vibe like the original, but it tried to be, but lacked and the movie suffered.
This had a made-for-TV feel although shortened, like they made a 2 or 3 parter and paired it down to 1.
Too many character developments encouraging the “feel for me” vibe for such a short screen time.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
booger 1 points 1 year ago.

Good Movie, very entertaining. Not my favorite in the franchise but not the least.

The Northman (2022)
booger 1 points 1 year ago.

I like this. This film appears to be a mix of modern film making with bits and pieces of “native” theater/symbolic type storytelling/ what-have-you thrown in.
And it’s not a bad way to tell a story.
It does a good job of getting its point across while making the viewer think they are witnessing an ancient form of theatre (real or contrived is not relevant).
Good acting/story/sets/locations, very believable.

The Batman (2022)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

I was prepared to not like this but I put aside my preconceptions (like I have done ever since I figured out Siskel and Ebert were just 2 guys with their own likes and dislikes just like me) and just watched the movie.
The bad: Robert Pattinson does not have the physique to truly pull off the character convincingly. But, neither did Keaton.
The good: Everything else. Batman is emotionally scarred and vulnerable and always has been also he is a Detective. And that is what I watched, a troubled individual going to extreme lengths to make his life and his parents death mean something, using his brain along with his body.
I bought a copy of the 1943 (a year full of product shortages, protest and death. sound familiar?) serial in the early 90’s and found it simple, brutal and honest much like Pattinson’s performance of the character.
Batman, like most of humanity, is not complicated, he might seem that way to some but black and white is not grey.

His Girl Friday (1940)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Fast paced dialog, all-star cast and a compelling story made this film the start of a lifelong love of Romcoms.

Walter: Well well… how long is it?
Hildy:
How long is what?
Walter:
You know what… how long is it since we’ve seen each other?

Recently watched this with a friend for the 1st time in decades and I gotta say it was even better now than then.

The Cursed (2022)
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

Not bad. It starts with a lot of promise then descends into a dreary, well done period piece. The mythology of the “Cursed” draws upon good ‘ol horror standards that evoke the time period and more modern sensibilities and metrics (as far as the beast goes) that mesh rather well.
Good Movie. Action junkies will get bored but more tolerant audiences will enjoy .

Extinction: The Facts (2020)

Have always loved Attenborough and enjoyed this despite the subject.
Thanks uploader I was getting sick of watching yt today.

The Boys Presents: Diabolical (2022)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

This is a Wonderfully done eight-part animated anthology set in “The Boys” Universe.
Each episode is done with a specific aesthetic that complements art with story beautifully.

The Enigma of the Celtic Tomb (2017)

I love shows like this, thanks uploader

The Real Inglorious Bastards (2012)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Excellent documentary detailing events in a succinct yet thorough manner. The Greatest generation indeed.

Going to Pot: The Highs and Lows of It (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Not a bad documentary told in a question-and-answer style that asks mostly mundane stoner questions but doesn’t shy away from more serious one.

The Walking Dead (2010) S11 E9
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Best episode in a while. Plenty of action and character development with not a lot of wasted time. I hope they continue in this vein.

Mankind Decoded (2013)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

A good start to what could be a very interesting series hope there are more episodes.

Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop (2022)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

The extravagant settings and aerial footage are the best part of this movie unfortunately. It does have decent acting but the scooby doo plot and lackluster dialogue make for a complete yawn-fest.
Good movie to fall asleep to though.

Reacher (2022)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Alan Ritchson does a good job of capturing the persona of Reacher as the author intended with a quick and agile mind coupled with an intimidating stature and brutal yet honorable set of ethics and skills.
I liked the Cruise movies and thought they were well done but he lacked the sheer intimidation factor that a person of Ritchson’s size gives to folks by merely being within their sight and the prejudices that comes with it, wich often play key roles in Child’s books.
It could have been better but translating this character into current pop morays looses some depth.

Death on the Nile (2022)
booger 8 points 2 years ago.

Cam quality is excellent as is most spotlights cam copies with limited interruptions and intrusions.
Unlike the 1978 film version of Agatha Cristie’s work this film takes a bit of time to delve deeper into the main character (Poirot) past and develops him into a more 3 dimensional persona, it even takes time to flesh out the other characters in succinct yet meaningful ways which enhances the enjoyment.
Good movie, watch it.

Still here? want more? ok…. This film does an excellent job of portraying the excesses of pre-war, post-economic crash, of the idle rich, quite immersive imo. Hinting at but not dwelling (overly) upon popular opinion and sentiments that prevailed at the time and sticking to telling a good story.

Catwoman: Hunted (2022)
booger -1 points 2 years ago.

Meh.
Uninteresting fight scenes, lackadaisical dialog, and cookie cutter character design help to make what could have been a fun action-packed hour into an hour of boring.

Moses Storm: Trash White (TV Special 2022) (2022)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Pretty funny. Kinda slow to start but he gets there.

Point of No Return (1993)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

This blew me away when it came out and it wasn’t till a year or two later that I found out this was a re-make of this movie https://www.primewire.li/movie/224384-watch-la-femme-nikita and found it even better.
Watch them both and see which one you prefer.

Deathlands (2003)
greyfur 0 points 2 years ago.

I read a lot of the books as well, too bad they did the movie like this, I had high hopes, and if they had done this better, they might have had something that could have been a cult classic they could have turned into something they could have worked with….

booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Sci Fi Pictures was not known for high quality back then and I agree it could been done better and with lots of source material, up to 143 now, a serial of some kind is easily imagined.
Shoot an animated version paired with the audiobook by Graphic Audio would be great.

Deathlands (2003)
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

Low budget, awful direction and a difficult-to-follow story makes this a hard movie to enjoy.
I am an avid reader/listner of the book series this was based on since the 80’s so liked this more than some but can only recommend this to hardcore post-apocalyptic fans or folks who like movies as abject lessons on movie making.

Monster Hunter (2020)
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

Standard fantasy/action flick, inspired by a videogame franchise that is popular in Japan. Not much of a storyline or dialog and there are some continuity issues, weird logic etc., but, if you concentrate on that, you will miss the point of the movie which is to entertain you with mindless monster bashing and ………. well that’s about it. Not good enough to recommend yet not bad enough to say “avoid this”.

The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

While entertaining and thought provoking it also never stoops so low as taking itself seriously. The closest analogy I can come up with is, if you took a George Carlin performance and made it into an Action/Scifi movie. You get the same disdain for all the stuff blue pill junkies think is important. Of course you don’t have to get all thinky and question everything, there is plenty of action, drama, romance and nostalgia to keep most viewers happy, it is after all, up to you.

The Outpost (2018)
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

Fairly entertaining series. Although it had a small budget, I had fun watching it and hardly cared, super awesome special effects should never be the defining characteristic for any show. And it had a decent conclusion which is sadly lacking in the current trend for U.S. shows, where they drag on and on and ………………
4/5 stars not because it was highly innovative or thought-provoking but because it came and it went and entertained in-between, as t.v. shows are supposed to do.

The Con (2020)
booger 4 points 2 years ago.

There are 2 series by this same name that came out in 2020. One is the series described in the synopsis and the other is narrated by Whoopi Goldberg.

Nash Bridges (2021)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Nash Bridges was always a parody or near-parody of a cop show and this stays true to form. Campy, humorous, and low brow/budget. If you enjoyed the original then most likely you’ll enjoy this. 3.5 stars, 2.5 for the show in and of itself with .5 added for style and another .5 for nostalgia.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Cam copy is very good for a cam. Camera position is good, audio is real decent with few distracting visual/audio artifacts (audience noise, shadows etc.)
While the storyline is not exactly original it does tie into the first film nicely and instead of a reboot you get a good sequel.

The Wheel of Time (2021)
booger 6 points 2 years ago.

3 episodes in and I’m hooked! Good acting, storytelling and SFX makes for a cool show. 30 years after having read the 1st book (Thank You Miss Fletcher for the recommend) and it finally makes it to a screen.
After so long I cannot say how faithful to the source material it is, but who cares? If I wanted a completely accurate, scene-by-scene reproduction I would just reread the book.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

This is an Ultimate Fan Film. Not a film made by fans but a film made celebrating fans and reality.
“We are all heroes in our own story” as the saying goes and this film explores fandom in a very unrealistic “true” way.
We all want to be the “Superhero” that saves the day and does amazing things as a matter of course all the while living a mundane existence and this film shows that our everyday mundane lives can be and are heroic …. it’s just a matter of perspective.

The Journey of Natty Gann (1985)
booger 3 points 2 years ago.

Very Good Movie.
I loved this as a kid and I love this still.
I am unsure if growing up watching Disney T.V./Feature films conditioned me to respond emotionally to their cinematic formula or that their formula just works on our collective emotions, whichever is true, I am addicted.

Squidbillies (2005) S13 E4
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

This seems totally out of character for early. Well, I can see him doing the first bit for a free drink and looky-loo, but I would have expected a deep and shameful regret skit, closely followed by him trying to blame it on some one/thing else with paranoid delusions, random violence and pipe bombs. 0/5 stars

Squidbillies (2005) S13 E3
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

There was an attempt.

The Freak Brothers (2021)
booger 3 points 2 years ago.

What a total Bummer! Not the show though, it’s actually quite delightful, but I just remembered that the Doobie Bros. broke up! or was that The Everly Brothers? The Chambers Brothers? Jan & Dean? were they even brothers? Hmmmm……… Anyway, like I was sayin’, if you want your brown bread soft and airy and not all dense and horrible, you gotta soak them grains for a few hours or else them hard, sharp edges will will deflate your beautiful loaf!

Squidbillies (2005) S13 E1
booger 7 points 2 years ago.

Hmmm….. I am unsure about Tracy Morgan as Early. While I do not doubt his talent, I do doubt his ability to give Early that authentic touch of pointless psychotic rage that the character was known for. However, I still enjoyed this episode and look forward to more.

Dexter (2006) S1 E1
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

forgot how much I love this show

Eternals (2021)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Decent cam copy with no shaking and no discernible background noise (popcorn munching, audience noise) and shot from a good angle/position 3/5.
Storyline was, again, decent imo. (The Eternals were never my favorite)
Action seemed ok but there could have been more.
Overall a fairly solid 3/5 stars.

NOVA (1974) S48 E9
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Ever so often somebody will make a new documentary about an old tragedy and claim “new” evidence or “new” technology etc, yet the conclusions rarely vary from previous efforts. Still enjoyed it.

Copshop (2021)
booger 0 points 2 years ago.

Very Entertaining! This is a fun ride all the way through! So sit back, grab a cold beverage and enjoy nearly 2 hours of unoriginal, yet enjoyable plots, storylines, tropes and shoot shooty bang bang!

Day of the Dead (2021)
booger 6 points 2 years ago.

Pure Schlockfest and I love it! The best part is that some of the decisions/actions/dialoge, as ridiculous as they are, is more realistic of human behavior than some of the “more realistic” shows in the genre.
Grab some toast because the cheese is going to drip off screen!

A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014)
booger 1 points 2 years ago.

Very well done mystery/thriller! While there is nothing really new plotwise and it can seem a little slow paced to action junkies, this is a very enjoyable watch!
There are a couple of sub-plots/added flavor that help give the story more depth wich I appreciate but they do not dwell over long on these scenes wich I really appreciate.

Parallel Man: Infinite Pursuit (2014)
syndromezed 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

Nice animation/voice work, but the plot could have been (maybe was?) lifted from the 90s show Sliders and their CroMag storyline. Basically, the USA in one of many parallel-dimension Earths develops interdimensional travel technology (cough sliding cough) and uses it to conquer other weaker Earths (cough Mags cough). The story is about them conquering “our” Earth (Beta 76 in the movie, Earth Prime in Sliders).
The main difference between Sliders and this movie is that the movie has a beginning Star Wars-esque text crawl that explains that they developed sliding instead of nukes as a way to defeat Japan in WW2, but no one really explains how sliding to other Earths would actually have helped. Sure, they could potentially steal tech, but how they could steal enough of it to actually defeat Japan is a whole other question. Then the crawl continues with “there was World War 3” on CroMag Earth and that this led them to need to conquer more and more other Earths…again, the fundamental premise is a “suspend your disbelief and ignore the sinkhole” kind of problem. Sliders explained it as a combination of CroMag feelings of racial superiority and insecurity at finding almost all the other Earths populated by us. I know modern and cro-magnon man were both homo sapiens, and Sliders probably should have been calling them Neanderthals (that’s close to how they did the makeup), but it’s a more believable setup than this movie’s.

Still, once you get past the setup, the movie is fun to watch even if it’s not particularly original. Personally, though, I would have liked to see the writers come up with some really weird s**t that would let the animators have a lot more freedom to be creative. Insectoid terrans instead of dinos, for example, or nano-humans. The weirder the better. :)

booger 3 points 2 years ago.

https://www.primewire.li/movie/236238-watch-doorways <—- Written by George R. R. Martin this pilot episode (the series has never been picked up) was ripped off heavily by Sliders.

Parallel Man: Infinite Pursuit (2014)
booger 2 points 2 years ago.

Real nice little show! Great animation, story and voice acting. Not sure if this was intended as a pilot for an animated series or just a teaser for the comic or novel but I still liked it.
