All episodes should end with a dog in it.

Wasn’t that a cute moment? She loved him so:)
The title alone screams, “Please watch me! You liked Sharknado; you’ll loooove me!” 😁
Yeah LOL these people just tell you upfront what you’re getting here. I gotta admire the honesty:)
Season 13 starts January 7, 2024 and some of you may not know that there is an episode 5 in season 12 which airs today, the 26th and there are links.
The doll gets in some fun one-liners LOL. Holla back at Talking Tina, Annabelle, Chatty Cathy, and others. Full Moon is always low-budget schlock, but the fun kind, not the bad kind. Way better than Polonia’s stuff. I laughed a lot here.
There are three bad-but-fun movies in this franchise. Tubi keeps making these; I’m guessing we’ll get another sequel soon.
Yeah I think the formula for HtGAWM and Scandal was that these headstrong characters have to have a figurative body in the basement (that always revolves around a fragile white man) to balance out their megalomania. With this one they went and literally put a body in the basement. Come on, I can get down with that but not the shouting outbursts, stalking teens, and violence, on top of it.
True. It’s as if “the point” is, NO WAY can she be an intelligent, positive, decent, sensible person handling her shit. No, she has to be some off-the-chain nutcase that everybody either wants to slap or to jump into bed with. In short, a caricature.
This was my least favorite episode thus far but it’s still better than a lot of procedurals that are out there. It felt super over dramatic this episode like they are trying to be Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder, I cackled when she threw the lady against the locker! It was over the top. Same with the hashtag scene. Too much.
I agree with all you’ve said. Not the greatest show to begin with, but this episode was just too much to swallow. One of the things I most liked in the premise behind both Scandal and HTGAWM was the idea of a smart, head-screwed-on-straight black professional woman who paid the cost and IS a boss. I’m black myself; it was gonna be fun to see such a character, I thought. But in each case, the shows hinted and teased (for a few outings, to get you interested) at this satisfying ideal, only to devolve into some nutty parody of a shrew who’s lost her mind. Olivia beating someone to death with a chair (!); Viola working with teacher’s pets in a murder plot (!); and this woman Gabi who is involved in the worst scenario EVER - her live-in criminal chained in the basement (!!)
I mean, do they ALL have to be touched in the head? Am I asking for too much?
My body is being donated to science fiction.
Hahahah good one!
Sci-fi already has ownership of my brain; maybe my body should follow…
I’m finally getting around to seeing this one, and I have to say, it was creatively made and fun to watch. The writer and director preferred moving the plot along by having characters doing more telling than showing - but that changed midway as the events rolled along, keeping a brisk pace. The whole thing was clever and quite original, with homages to classic stuff like Firestarter(1984) and The Power(1968!); with a splash of Inception(2010), and several other things. I liked it a lot and would recommend. I wonder if a sequel is planned…?
As per the synopsis, this is a Lifetime-like thriller that offers an interesting narrative to the viewer by using an engrossing ‘fictional’ book that appears to mimic deadly events happening now. The rest of the formula is pretty standard other than the book device. Few surprises; actors are mostly okay, with biggest props IMO going to the husband, who sells it pretty well. You may remember former internet sensation Jeremy “Felon Bae” Meeks - he has a role in this as another ne’er-do-well.
On the button. 5 years later, this film plays like a new classic. Has aspects of Equilibrium with Bale, which takes a lot from Bruce Lee. But has quite a bit of Crichton’s 1974 Terminal Man with George Segal.
I just last week bought a copy of Terminal Man to replace my old VHS copy. Stunningly scary pic! Loved it - and loved Upgrade.
Am about to watch this now, Thanksgiving day, rave reviews, but now that you of all people said such good things I am waiting with baited breath to see this! About to take the deep dive, trailer looked great! Once again, Happy Thanksgiving!
Me too! They’re more human while the Xenomorphs are just creatures. Could the Predators become passive enough to work with the humans to wipe out the Xenomorphs?
I’d like to see that in future films. In the written lore (and in fan fiction) the Yautja do work with ‘oomans’ at times.
This one here, same kind of movie I was looking for, if you have not seen it, should have had a much better rating, would have given it a solid 4.00.
Thanks. I haven’t seen it! I see from the cast list that it has several stars I like. I’ll add this to my list and watch tonight when I get home:)
Thanks for saving me the time, was thinking about watching this, but the trailer was a bit ‘not exactly what I wantedish’ if you know what I mean. This seemed to have a more horror tinge to it and really was looking for a more combat oriented kind of thing. At least I didn’t wind up wasting time on it…thanks.
Yes, you can find much better fare somewhere else. This one went nowhere, story-wise. No payoff.
See? I thought so. Throw you into the mix & it’s Earth 2.0 fully capable of self-inventory!
The audience was really engaged tonight. Exceptional show all around! Love John Oliver always.
We need,,nay,,DEMAND..”Sharknado: Cocaine Sharks” a new high in terror! LOL
It’s not a very satisfying story. Things do happen, but the script could have offered up a lot more to round it all out. I read a lot of posts from people who often say they enjoy movies that “leave some things to the viewer”- but that only goes so far. If there’s a sci-fi or fantasy element to a story, you want to be able to pick up on it, have fun, and run with it.
Regarding “Black Noise”, well, I honestly have to say I know no more of the actual story at the end of the movie than I did at the beginning. It’s that thin.
(I marked this review as spoiler just in case.)
It is definitely taking a sharp turn in the storyline. I can’t wait to see the rest of it.
Me either. Sir really thinks she belongs to him, no matter which of them is “in charge”. Strange stuff.
Very curious direction the show’s going in. Sir apparently remained quiet as a mouse all night while Gabi’s visitor was right upstairs. He could have easily started yelling for help, blowing the whole arrangement wide open. I’m guessing Sir likes his captivity in a perverse way.
Well, he DID kind of like it, until Gabi’s man-friend stayed for a sleepover. Now, all bets are off. Where did Sir go…? Not far, I’m guessing. Certainly not to the cops. Anybody remember “The Night Porter” from way, way back? Yeah, I’m tasting a dash of that….
So…I wonder if she went back to Amish land after all that excitement. Pretty hard to give up Hawaii’s beauty. But what do I know? And now Magnum has a very dangerous enemy to watch out for….
One of my favorites!
Mine, too. It’s one show that never suffers when there are cast tweaks; everyone brings something interesting. Not a lot of shows can say that.
That’s her appeal as lead actor though - Her failure to register little more than subtle emotion drives a story further (if the editors use that correctly). She really can’t be read with her poker-face, so jumping scene to scene, it creates the need to keep watching. Damn her ☺
Ouch! That is high. But like they say, laughter can be the best medicine. Hope you can find something good to binge. Really don’t have a good recommendation, but old episodes of Firefly tend to cheer me up. Not comedy, but right decent Science Fiction though.
Long ago, someone sent me a box set of the Firefly series, which he loved. Very different kind of scifi show. He had a cat with grey fur. Funny, that…
High indeed. He had 3 heart procedures for blockages in 10 days, then this. It started at 148 over something, but by the time we got him to the ER, it went up further. He’s been dizzy, can’t walk easily & has fuzzy recall on simple things. That’s not him though, he’s the sharpest knife in the drawer, so this is weird & stressful. He read your idea though, and instantly said “Red Dwarf” & “Space Ghost”, so I think that’s what’s next after Looney Tunes.
I’m so sorry to hear he’s going through so much. Heart issues are no walk in the park - and I speak from experience. *Seeing Lena might cheer him up…oh, wait, scratch that; she NEVER cheers anyone up with that one expression she has. LOL.
Thanks for the convo. Our dad got out of the ER & had an interest in this, but our energy is specific at the moment & the dialogue you two are having is helpful. Think we’ll have to go with a different vibe tonight as well. This is a good show though, and we can’t wait for it to take off!
I know what you mean. Two eps. so far and I haven’t a clue about where this goes, nor very much about any backstory(ies). Hope you dad is all right!
Yeah, not really getting the Killjoys vibe from this, at least not yet. Thinking about watching something now myself, but not real jiggy with this at the moment for some reason, so going to go looking at what I have on my later list, will find something, have a lot piled up. Will get back to this eventually and see where it goes. It’s either going to surprise me and be good, or I’ll just drop it. Got too much stuff I’m trying to keep up with at it is…
Ahhh, seemed like it moved a bit slow. Still have not watched the second episode yet, so not trying to judge it yet, am willing to give it a chance, but at the same time not really holding my breath on this one…
Yeah. I’m heading for the second ep. now. Not yet able to decide if this is supposed to show real hijinks, or mental stuff going on, you know? (“Killjoys” or maybe “Nightflyers”…I can’t tell. It sure isn’t helped much by ‘Cersei Lannister’, who only seems to have one facial expression no matter what’s going on around her. Oh, well.)
Watching it for the same reason……This is why i love LWTWJO!!!!
Yep, me too. Never saw this movie before, but I’m gonna watch it on the strength of John’s hilarity alone. 😉
Man this keeps getting better. Hopefully season 2 will build on the momentum.
I’m enjoying it, too. It’s moving along at a pretty good pace, plus Jesse is a very engaging actor.
Wow I was gonna say, Gee, that poster guy kinda looks like Nicholas Cage.
Oops. 😳
kind of but not really, Macy is Murdoch’s great grand-daughter. It’s a web series through CBC, they did another one called The Book of Jackson but unfortunately there aren’t any links for it :(

Oh, okay; thanks for the info. I guess the hook is that sleuthing kind of runs in the family.
Interesting; will have a look, even though it seems aimed at the young. I assume this is a spinoff (or something) of Murdoch Mysteries.
I had been considering this, but you make a very strong argument against it, thank you!
Oh Jade, please watch an ep. and decide - but be prepared for some Lifetime Movie-type drama, filled with hard-to-root-for characters. This is NOT on par with The Last Kingdom or Vikings or any of that.
I think we all could have seen something like this coming.
Yep. Everyone in this show takes the wrong path, it seems. No sense at all.
And Arthur! He puts the “dumb” in Dumnonia, with all his lousy choices and decisions! Raises eyebrows and creates enemies everywhere. SMH at the way his bullheadedness is driving the ship of state right into the rocks here. And let’s not even mention the ghastly ætheling waiting in the wings…Arthur has been warned….
This is a very different role Mark-Paul Gosselaar. He’s usually in control. What’s Gabi’s end game?
They must have, but I haven’t heard any talk about searching for Margaret’s son.
She is truly pathetic.
I agree with you about Gosselaar. This is a strange departure for him. And yes, the woman with the missing son is really off the deep end. What on earth is the show going to do with that - have the son show up one day? And, maybe I’m wrong, but for a brief while, I’d assumed that the young woman who’d been imprisoned with Gabi was in on the prisoner ruse…but nope, no one knows about him. Again, what on earth is the show going to do with that situation??? (sorry I’m so bad with names; the only woman I know is Gabi since that’s my nickname too LOL)
Oh my. I had no idea this existed, thank you!
You’re welcome. Enjoy! Then, be sure to catch Bogey and Ferrer in the 1954 version.
Rest in Peace Suzanne Somers 🕊️🕊️🕊️ somebody reup the episodes
A lovely person she was. So sad for husband Alan and her entire family. RIP
They did a decent job with staging the courtroom-only section of the great story of Capt. Queeg and his underlings. Everyone remembers the riveting Bogart performance, and here Kiefer Sutherland channels a good portion of that, balancing the levels of sympathy we feel for the character’s distress with unpleasant realizations of his evasiveness and willingness to lie to cover himself. You do feel for Queeg, and also for the lawyer who has to do his job in a way that disgusts him. The original story, set in WW2, has been updated to 2022 here, and there is some cast diversity that wasn’t there in the earlier film.
Overall, an entertaining watch, with the late great Lance Reddick commanding his scenes as always. So sad we’ve lost him.
As soon as I saw a preview, I knew this was my kind of watch. It’s wonderful feel-good fun, with powerhouse performances by Jamie and Tommy Lee, backed up by some excellent cast-mates. This is based on an actual lawyer from the 90s that I hadn’t heard of (or don’t remember) who went up against the big dogs in stunning fashion. Watch for a mid-credit scene where he makes a cameo. Nice touch. Recommended!
I liked how well this John Wick prequel turned out. It was exciting, fun, action-packed and involving. Justice was done to the movies that spawned this show, and if this is the end of the franchise, it was a satisfying one IMO. I’ve heard rumors of more coming from the world of Wick, but who knows. This was great!
I hadn’t thought of that, but you might be onto something. I like what I’ve seen thus far. Now off to watch the 2nd episode of The Continental…
I just watched ep. 2. I do like The Continental, I just wish they’d stop blasting the (admittedly great) soundtrack every moment of the story! I mean, it’s endless! I know, I know…I’m old….
It was very sweet!
Whenever I see that actress, I always remember she was the Mongolian Death Worm on Lost Girl way back when. LOL
