Fringe (2008) S2 E16
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

FINALLY the underlying truth comes out, after 36 episodes! Most of S2 up to here has been ‘filler’ stories tbh, a lot of it nothing to do with ‘the pattern’ we heard so much about in S1. I like FRINGE a lot but they really stretched out the main story with a lot of episodic ‘weird science’ stories. Anyway i’m pushing on with a slow binge of review.. LOCKDOWN has proven ideal for re-watching old favourites! :))x

Rubinrot (2013)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

Hey, i watched RUBINROT last night and really enjoyed it. Good story, young people, time-travel, costume-drama, mystery and intrigue.. just the ticket for a Sunday night! Only trouble was, come the end i wanted more, a whole series more would’ve been perfect. This 2hr movie would’ve been the ideal pilot ep for a longer project, sure these days NF would make it into a series. Anyway, tis a good ‘ripping yarn’, worth a watch if you like family entertainment :))x

The Flight Attendant (2020)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

Hey, i like Kaley Cuoco in Big Bang, she suits that sitcom role perfectly, but i struggled with this story. In fact i cut out after less than half an hour of the first ep, stupid premise, basically ‘stop drinking biatch’ was all i could think of as primary message. Drink makes you stupid and wrecks your Life, trust me i KNOW! Anyhow, a weak storyline couldn’t keep me interested, not for me but hopefully others will like it :))x

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

The first series of DEMON SLAYER was very good and now there’s a second series.. lookin’ forward to it! :))x

Bill Bailey: Larks in Transit (TV Special 2021) (2021)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

A BRILLIANT performance by a True Wizard! In a couple of places i laughed harder than i have in a long time, SO funny, and Clever and ingenious.. excellent programme, thanks Shipwreck! :))x

Joe Pickett (2021)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

I read a number of the (many) books by C J Box a few years ago, it’s a lot of stories covering the exploits of Joe Pickett and his family. I wonder how true to the books this series will be? The spectacular landscape of Wyoming should play a leading role as Joe’s a game warden there. The stories are great so hopefully this will be too.. guess i’d better have a look eh! :))x

Good Morning Christmas! (2020)
thedamaged0ne 2 points 3 years ago.

I’ve been watching Christmas Hallmark movies the whole week, and this is one of my favorites so far, very sweet.

TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

This one was just a tiny bit too sweet for me, i preferred the dance show with Lacey Chabert, still i like Alison Sweeney too and this movie had plenty of Hallmark Christmas Cheer.. Ho-Ho-Ho!! :))x

Grid (2022)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

I’ve just finished watching ep2 of Grid and enjoying it a lot. It’s compelling stuff, very enigmatic and Korean and tbh i haven’t a clue what’s going on, but it’s really good! I’d like to binge it but it’s coming in weekly chunks so will have to wait till next time to see if i can make sense of it all. Can’t wait! Thanks for posting :))x

The Apothecary Diaries (2023) S1 E1
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 months ago.

This is a really interesting and fun series, excellent graphics and a good storyline. Set in the Japanese emperor’s palace. If you like anime, Japanese history and a good yarn, take a look-see! I really enjoyed it :))x

Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop (2022)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

Hey, i was excited to watch ‘Miss Willoughby and the Haunted Bookshop’ when i realised it had the wonderful Kelsey Grammar in it, but sadly i was disappointed by this rather poor movie. It’s all very British in the way it’s made and might’ve been better in fact if it was set in the 1930s. The story is incredibly thin and i knew exactly what was going on too fast as it’s such a small cast.. when there’s only 5 or 6 protagonists it’s hardly a thriller or a ‘mystery’ when the plot is obvious from the start. It’s a well-made bit of ‘theatre’ like watching an old-fashioned repertory company at work.. not enough substance for a movie though. The acting is somewhat lacklustre and even KG couldn’t lift my spirits. Most of the sets and settings are really old English country-houses around the city of Oxford. some of the interiors are stunning. So if you fancy a rather plodding old drama with great sets, well here you are. I couldn’t help but feel it should’ve been a LOT better. 2/5

Just One of the Girls (1993)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

I can’t understand why this zany teen movie deserves an ADULT CONTENT warning? Apart from a very brief shower scene with quick glimpses of boob there was nothing sexual or weird about this comedy, not even kissing, just a typical 80s teen flick, made in ‘92! I just re-watched this..saw it decades ago on TV and thought i’d jog my memory seeing it here. It’s actually funny and quite sweet and sensitive in fact, none of the crude humour we saw in similar movies of this era. It’s almost exactly the same story (in reverse )as ‘JUST ONE of the BOYS” with Terri Griffith? Anyway, nostalgia, this is a funny, high-school/ mix-up identity movie if you wanna watch one.. i especially enjoyed the music, funky synth.. Yo! :))x

Love Stories in Sunflower Valley (2021)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

She’s alright but he’s like a plank of wood! Couldn’t get through it.. Pity, i like a good romance :))x

Love Again (2023)
Birdsforme 2 points 8 months ago.

What a big step down for Sam Heughan.

TisOnlyMe 2 points 4 months ago.

I bet he was really pleased to be able to pay the rent though. When you’re an actor a job is a job, look at some of the crazy parts de Niro has taken over the years, not to mention Bruce Willis! Work = a pay-check, so regardless, i’d say he was pleased to be on set and not on the dole! Thanks :))x

Fringe (2008) S2 E18
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

Yes, a really great ep of FRINGE.. time-travel theme, intriguing and a very poignant ending. Powerful stuff :))x

Emily in Paris (2020)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

Wow, what’s happening?! This is the second NETFLIX Original prog that i’ve really enjoyed this week and i usually hate their output. EMILY in PARIS is stylish and fun, it’s young, LILY COLLINS is extremely likeable, wears great clothes and no doubt will be loved by her generation. Yonkk is right, there is something of the gamine AUDREY HEPBURN about her, though with the pushy confidence of the Instagram generation! Thankfully Ms Collins hasn’t inherited her Dad’s accent. PARIS looks wonderful in the background, the rest of the cast do a fine job and the script and editing are pretty good actually. I just wish there were more than 10 half-hour episodes..i’ve almost finished this series already! Cinq etoiles pour moi mes amies! :))x

Artemis Fowl (2020)
TisOnlyMe 2 points 3 years ago.

I haven’t read any of the AF books but figure i’d be disappointed in this movie if i had. It’s hard to say exactly why it doesn’t work.. In a world where fairies are a hi-tech paramilitary force the CGI is impressive and there are some good action sequences but the story is lacking as is the acting. Artemis the actor is unconvincing, his acting consists of one ‘serious’ expression.. The fairy Holly Short, played by Lara McDonnell, is the best actor on show, while the bargain-basement Hagrid-lookalike dwarf played by Josh Gad is sadly no Robbie Coltrane. Even the presence of Judi Dench can’t lift the enterprise though i fancy she enjoyed playing in pointy ears!. Ken Brannagh’s direction is sound enough, the film looks great but would’ve been a lot better had they spent less on CGi and more on plot development and acting.. and Jeez why do action flicks need so much insistent, weepy music throughout every piece of dialogue. It would’ve been much better to make a series of this story as originally intended with less expensive tech wizardry and better writing. Generally altogether unsatisfactory and they left a BiG open-end for further instalments, which if they’re made really will need be a lot better after the poor reception of this mish-mash.. i wonder if Disney will want to risk the cash after being forced by CV to release this direct to streaming? They spent $125 million on this movie for an 88 minute entertainment, extremely poor value when you do the math. Best line, “This world needs more fairies like you.” How true :((

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
PonderThis 0 points 4 years ago.

She was a great actress but she was also an inventor and very intelligent. Some say her inventions lead to what we now call the “cell phone” or as the Europeans call them mobile phones.

TisOnlyMe 2 points 4 years ago.

Sorry you have that wrong, it wasn’t Gene Tierney, it was Hedy Lamarr who also invented as a hobby, notably something called ‘Frequency-hopping spread spectrum’ which today is used in Bluetooth apparently :))x

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
RoboPhone 1 points 4 years ago.

Glad I found this for everyone to enjoy. Try the Vidtodo especially, as I tweaked it a bit for better picture quality.

TisOnlyMe 2 points 4 years ago.

Yeah i watched it on Vidtoto, nice tweak Robo, the picture quality was excellent! Thanks!! :))x

Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol (2021)
augusts1 3 points 2 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

I’m sure the book is much better. I was planning to read it anyway.

I think the fault may be the director’s though since none of the other characters really had much personality/charisma either except the main security guard imo.

TisOnlyMe 2 points 2 years ago.

No, the book ISN’T any better, that’s what i’m saying! Personally I found THE LOST SYMBOL to be unreadable but by all means give it a try, i’m sure you’ll find boxes full of it at your local thrift store! :))x

Apex (2021)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

If there’s such a thing as a ‘C’ movie APEX is surely it. Thin storyline, poor script and.. well, you couldn’t really call it acting.. it’s terrible! So terrible it’s almost good, nah but not really! If it had a canned-laughter track it would somehow make more sense. I got about halfway so far, needed a breather, not sure i ever need to go back. Bruce Willis, how the mighty are fallen! :((x

Red Notice (2021)
karim 1 points 2 years ago.

Starts well but then it gets silly … epic fail.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

Yeah, the first 10mins were good, then Ryan Reynolds opened his mouth..that’s when it got silly.! A poor script., many locations but no real depth. Dwayne was his usual good-natured self, but the Reynolds character, SO annoying! It’s very lightweight, not a good result after all the money and time that must’ve gone into making it. Disappointing :((x

Stardust (2007)
MyongSooksoo 3 points 4 years ago.

It´s awesome in so many ways! Particulary the scene when Robert De Niro does the cancan always brings a smile to my face! :D

TisOnlyMe 1 points 4 years ago.

“We always knew you was a Whoopsie Captain!” Priceless!! Perfect feelgoood movie, not a scene out of place.. 5 star :))x

Altered Carbon (2018)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 4 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

It’s really annoying when there are whole scenes in a foreign language (here it’s Spanish) without any subs. It’s something i’ve noticed in other NF series.. you’d think with all their resources they might provide translation so you could actually follow the story! :((x

The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947)
RoboPhone 1 points 4 years ago*.

If you’re a Gene Tierney fan, you will love her in an earlier 1943 movie, called Heaven Can Wait, alongside equally legendary co-star Don Ameche.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 4 years ago.

I always loved the movie ‘LAURA’ starring GT and Dana Andrews as the chain-smoking detective who falls in love with a painting of her after her murder. The film has a haunting theme tune, another great b/w classic. I re-watched it here recently and it’s still very enjoyable :))x

The Dropout (2022)
jumbopop 3 points 2 years ago.

Pretty entertaining, although would’ve been a lot more enjoyable if you didn’t know the story already.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

Ah, but that’s the beauty (or not) of TV.. they can change the story to make it more interesting/ or just different if they want to. Just cos you know ‘the real story’ won’t stop Hollywood from spinning the facts any-which-way. She could even end up the heroine of the piece! :))x

Debris (2021) S1 E1
pryme 3 points 3 years ago.

It’s worth checking out for sci-fi fans but dont get your hopes too high. It’s like Fringe in the sense of having strange phenomena that defy the laws of physics but it’s not at all epic or emotionally engaging like Fringe was, and like TisOnlyMe said, it has no interesting characters (and I’m not very impressed with the actors).

The first episode was just ok, not great, but it may still end up being a good series after the plot develops further in future episodes. I didnt like certain aspects of the main plot of the pilot, which I wont specify here so as to not spoil it for anyone.

Highly doubtful it will be anywhere near as good as Fringe even in best case scenario but that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong (and very much hope that I am, I want this show to be great!). In any case it’s nice to have a new show somewhat similar to Fringe even if it ends up being not nearly as good.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

..All of which is exactly what i meant to say in my earlier comment.. Thanks for saying exactly what i meant! :))x

Definitely Dusty (1999)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Interesting little prog about Dusty Springfield. Such a great voice, loved her records as a kid.. this made me feel all nostalgic.. i didn’t enjoy my childhood much, but the music back then was brilliant! Worth a watch :))x

Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool (2019)

An excellent documentary about the Life and music of Miles Davis, very informative, a must-see for anyone interested in Jazz history. I really enjoyed watching this, thanks for uploading it :))x

Mix Up in the Mediterranean (2021)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

If you’re sappy enough to make it through to the end of this, it’ll leave you smiling! It’s fun, it’s silly, i enjoyed it. It’s also set in Malta and it was SUNNY, a nice change from grey February where i live! The perfect antidote to Winter for HALLMARK fans! :))x

Balthazar (2018)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Oh Joy! I asked for someone to post links for S2 of Balthazar months ago, have checked back occasionally but without success. Now i look and it seems there’s links for all of S2, Yippee! I really like this guy, he’s very droll and a good character, good storyline, i enjoyed S1 very much. Now i’ll have to put in another request as i believe there’s a S3 now.. it’s all go isn’t it! Whoever did the uploading, well you’re my hero, THANKYOU so much! :))x

Good Sam (2022)
pwk1653 1 points 2 years ago.

The music for this show really is so bad and ruins the feel for what’s going on

TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

Completely agree with you, the music is over loud and invasive, it plays even when they’re talking making it hard to hear the dialogue. Over-use of music usually implies a weak script with music used to move the narrative along to make up for poor writing. I found GOOD SAM rather dull, poor acting, nothing new and that awful music.. not a good start! I won’t be watching further eps :((x

Summer Magic (1963)
ckgranger 1 points 4 years ago.

do you now how much i wish this movie had a sequel so i could know what happens next?!

TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

I know, i loved this film SO much as a kid, big crush on Hayley Mills who happened to live in my home-town. The score was written by the Sherman brothers and the song that Burl Ives sings “On the Front-Porch” was Robert Sherman’s personal favourite composition.. a few years ago i even wrote an extra verse to make it longer, i still sing it occasionally! These days they’d probably have turned the movie into a series but as it is, what happened next, sadly we shall never know! Enjoyed your comment though :))x

Secret Society of Second Born Royals (2020)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Sounds a lot like Harry and Megan the Sussexes.. “Harry & Megan Save the World” could be an alternative title in fact! :))x

You, Me & The Christmas Trees (2021)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

This is one of the dullest Hallmark movies i’ve seen in a long while. The story is very thin, none of the characters have much spark, in the end i couldn’t even see it through to the (no doubt) happy ending. What a pity, and Danica McKellar (she of the expressive eyebrows) is a lovely actress, but the story is without interest. Boring, 2/5 :((x

Mystic (2020)
PacificLilly 2 points 3 years ago.

TisOnlyMe, Thank you for your review! (It’s bc of it that I added this to my watchlist!) I’ve been wanting to watch this bc I didn’t want to get invested in the show, if they weren’t going to finish the rest of the season. But I’m glad I did bc I now can binge-watch the whole season! ☺

According to the schedule, episode 9-13 aired on March 23rd. No links have been added for each epsiode yet. But fingers crossed that they’ll be added soon! I love stories that have horses, bc well… I love hors’ies! ❤❤

TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Hey Lilly, thanks for your feedback..(Call me ToM btw) Funny i’d actually forgotten all about this series till you brought it back to mind! Great that there are more eps to come, now we’ll just have to ask one of our brave uploaders to do the honours and find some links (Please!)! It’s a good story and i look forward to watching the whole thing when the new eps appear.. i hope you enjoy it too when you get to watch. All the best to yer :))x

Harvey (1998)
Alien -1 points 3 years ago. (Contains Spoilers)

This is horrible. The nerve of trying to remake a Jimmy Stewart classic.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Do you know, i was gonna say the exact same thing last night when i first saw this post. Who would even THINK it was a good idea to remake such a classic? It’s like when they re-made ‘Mr Deeds Goes to Town’ with Adam Sandler.. tragically awful and not even true to the original.. anyway, Don’t get me started.. i guess that’s showbiz for ya! :))x

The Big Bang Theory (2007) S10 E15

Good Sam (2022)
PonderThis -1 points 2 years ago.

I read an article today about Sophia Bush and I decided right then and there I wasn’t going to watch this drama. I like Jason Isaacs and generally like anything that he is in but won’t be watching it. I was rather surprised they gave this drama a name close to The Good Doctor. Haven’t watched that medical drama either.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 2 years ago.

I watched S1 of The GOOD DOCTOR when it came out and enjoyed it, but then i watched the original Korean version.. it’s very ‘Korean’ (obv) but SO much better than the US remake. If you can manage the subtitles i’d def recommend it if you like medical dramas :))x

Lili (1953)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

Hey, what a Lovely movie, sweet, romantic and charming, absolutely delightful! It’s a treat to see a young Leslie Caron, she dances beautifully. A young Mel Ferrer too, so handsome and Zsa Zsa Gabor, wow she really was exquisite back in the day! A great film to watch when your heart needs a boost, but be careful who you watch it with.. it had me in tears 3 times! :))x

Cannes Confidential (2023)
DownrightDebonaire 1 points 10 months ago.

yes but bringing in the random playboy to help the police thing is being recycled here. The only thing missing is a piano and a Devil face

TisOnlyMe 1 points 10 months ago.

Ah, so it’s a derivative of a derivative eh? You see a lot of that these days; they keep re-cycling but seldom as good as the thing they’re copying. I haven’t watched this yet but after what you’ve said, hmm, well maybe a quick look.. i very much doubt it’s as good as early Lucifer though.. that was great up until S4-5 when it started to plummet badly.. sometimes the trick is knowing when to stop eh! Cheers :))x

Death and Other Details (2024)
Piglet 1 points 1 month ago.

Death and Other Details creators Heidi Cole McAdams and Mike Weiss consider ideas for a potential Death and Other Details season 2. It could focus on Imogene’s rise as the next detective and draw inspiration from Sherlock Holmes. The show has potential growth with its ensemble cast and stylized nature, despite receiving mixed reviews for season 1. I would watch it and unlike most US crime dramas, I didn’t know who the killer was within the first 5 minutes.

TisOnlyMe 1 points 20 days ago.

Yeah, i also really enjoyed ‘Death and Other Details’, looked forward to each ep as the weeks unfolded.. disappointed it won’t get a 2nd season. I had no idea who the killer was either which was refreshing. My only grouch about the show was, the ending.. the last 2mins, WTF, it completely stumped me, what happened, why? Apart from that i thought it was a very good series and in time i’ll def re-watch it. Worth a look if you like Agatha Christie updated kinda! Thanks :))x

Drifting Dragons (2020)
TisOnlyMe 1 points 3 years ago.

I started to watch this anime when it first came out but found it quite distasteful. It’s basically an apologia for whaling in the guise of a sci-fi group of adventurers who hunt dragons from an airship, shooting them with great harpoon guns ‘the reward is riches and all the meat they can eat’. Utterly repugnant, best avoided! :((x
