Have not watched yet, think I still need to catch up on the last episode. Seems like a lot of people are not very impressed with this incarnation of the series. I have liked each episode I have seen so far, some better then others, but thats the way it goes with a series like this.
YgraineDance's comments
I’ve liked all of them, too. A couple REALLY packed a wallop, so I was expecting that today…but I was kind of underwhelmed this time around. I’m gonna stick with it; as you say, that’s pretty much par for the course for any anthology series. I like what Peele is trying to do so I’ll stay tuned. (Last week’s episode was stunning btw.)
Of course. I meant the team behind the scenes, the ones who, during the show, wished us well from their homes and told us of this solution to the problem of completing the episode. Chill, dude. It wasn’t me who peed in your oatmeal.
I really wanted to see how his character dealt with the fallout from this ordeal. Now THAT would have made the story truly wild!
Ha. Ha HAHA! I like that! ‘Nattering Nabobs of negativism’. Excellent! Just wrote that one down and added it to a list I’m starting of good sayings I run into for future use. Hope you don’t mind being being plagiarized a bit for a good cause!
Someone in Nixon’s circle if memory serves; have seen it somewhere…
That is so helpful, Robo! I saw the first one years ago, and liked it, but did not know of these others. Will add to my Watch list:-)
Entertaining origin story with fun visuals and a musical score that adds nice touches along the way without overpowering things. Momoa makes this movie work, as he possesses the total “big three” package—he’s gorgeous, endearingly self-effacing, and genuinely funny. That’s a winning combo in ANY man. Fun portrayals from Dafoe, Wilson, and Lundgren too. You can tell they had a lot of fun making this, and I hope there’s more. DC is giving Marvel a run for its money, and I never thought I’d be able to say that.
I finally got around to the final season of this show, years after it ended. I really liked the idea of a show about Da Vinci’s time, his art and inventions, but I have to say there wasn’t nearly enough of that once they introduced (what I consider) the silly plot arc of the Labyrinth and Mithras cults. This ushered in way too much pseudo mysticism, fantasy, and fever dreaming to keep the story moving. The sets and costumes were excellent, as was the music, but the pace suffered greatly every time they veered off the (semi) historical plot points to take us on another this-might-or-might-not-have-happened flight of fancy. Season 3 was full of this. It made Leonardo look like a twitchy nutcase.

Enemy of the State, fantastic film, hadn’t thought about it in years.
All of which has me recalling the series from the 90’s called Nowhere Man; photographer captures a massacre on film and ends up being hunted by shadowy forces that want to keep it a secret.
YES thank you, Captain. I remember the frantic pace; couldn’t quite recall the title.
Yes! Had my doubts on this one returning; glad to see it. Leaphorn is the man!
I did not enjoy this episode at all.
It’s a weird mash-up of elements of Twin Peaks, Under the Dome, NeXt, La Brea, and several other things that intrigued at first and then went off the tangent. It has time to improve, I guess…
It’s just a shame that a show can’t work more with the great sci-fi material it offers, and less with the human-stupidity aspect. But there it is. 🙁
Yeah! So glad this is back. Kenda has that winning deadpan delivery and wit that I loved so much in the late great Jerry (“Lennie”) Orbach.
Rest in Peace Suzanne Somers 🕊️🕊️🕊️ somebody reup the episodes
A lovely person she was. So sad for husband Alan and her entire family. RIP
Wow, this story sounds fascinating. I had a college prof. who adored the OED so much and spoke of its magnificence all during our course with him. Shout-out to Prof. Walter U. :-)
I’m not able to tolerate Maher anymore, but I watched this episode for my man Max Brooks. He’s always a can’t-miss for me; so smart and funny. Nothing fazes him. That is so appealing.
Glad to find this show; was a pro-rasslin’ nut back in the day and I remember all of these events. Some of the backstage stuff was way more dramatic than some of the scripted ring events….😲
Very creative way to deal. Hats off to the Blacklist team; I liked this a lot.
This little gem is from the days when sci-fi warned us against continuing all that dangerous atom-splitting stuff we were so good at. Things never go well for you when you mess with Mother Nature, and this movie blends in humor to make a lot of points. Though dated in costumes, effects, and the like, this is a fun, imaginative film that holds your interest, even if a few subplots don’t seem to go anywhere at all (the most glaring of these being a character who is introduced in a long, meaningful scene—-then never appears again.)
My brother and I used to watch this and other sci-fi movies and shows, and Time Travelers is still a fave, like The Day the Earth Stood Still and First Men in the Moon.
“Bisang seoneon” aka “Emergency Declaration,” is quite deliberately long, but is so involving and character-driven that it never seems slow or tedious. The actors are great, and make you feel what they’re feeling. You really need and want to see and hear all that’s going on with them, as it’s all important to the tale; nothing is filler, even at this runtime. The plot is simple enough, and there’s exposition as needed, but mainly this is all about the people.
The movie likes to engage us in lots of looooong scenes of heightened tension and emotions, longer than what we see in conventional Hollywood offerings - but this isn’t Hollywood, and you really can tell, and that’s fine. It’s all a big, scary ride getting to the conclusion, but along the way, we see fear, love, selfishness, selflessness, hope, hopelessness, madness, resignation, outrage, mendacity - in short, we get to see the human response to a threat. We are reminded that it’s not always pretty, but it’s always human.
Recommended! The English subs are excellent, btw.
…and the Dembe Zuma Award for Exemplary Moral Fence-Straddling goes to:
The writers of this show!!!!
Excellent review and great recommendation, YgraineDance.
In the same genre I would recommend, if you haven’t seen them

I like the first one best but both are chilling.
YES that’s another fabulous story. Also, do you know of this obscure one? Check it out:
I know nothing of the books whatsoever, at all. Thought that the series might have been taken from one book, or maybe a trilogy. Had no idea that there was a whole slew of them. Might have to look into that….
Have to admit that Pratt did a really great job with this, and would really like to see him come back in this role again.
He really did well; I have to say I was surprised. (That’s on me; I’d only seen him in nutty stuff ‘til now.) Let’s hope for more of this good show.
A ripping historical yarn from start to finish! Such fun watching how intricate, devilish plans come together in Catherine’s world. Samantha Morton drives this show, bringing all the emotions in the rainbow - very often in a single episode. Amazing. The excellent cast delivers, and you really feel the “Oh-HELL-no!” when understanding dawns hahaha. “The Serpent Queen” is unbelievably clever and snarky, and I really hate to see it end. 10/10 stars.
I wasn’t exactly bowled over by the film, but it did make me want to go learn about the myth of Niamh Cinn Oir. My specialty is Greek/Roman mythology; Irish tales are new to me:)
A shame. Miss him; miss Richard Jeni from back in the day, too, whose shows were featured here on yesterday’s front page.
He sure did! Lot of action, adventure, and heartache, which I think is what they might be getting at in his background, which made him a great butler and manservant/‘dad’ sort of for a young Bruce Wayne, to help him find his way early on, and be there for him in the early days, and then on there after.
Me being me (I’m 57) and having grown up with everything I could have placed my hands on as a kid that was Batman, and will grant you I missed some stuff, but still…watching this, with some retrospect, I think this is seriously brilliant! A lot of thought went into this, people went into the Batman mythos, and went into exactly WHO Alfred might have actually might have been, and how he got to be who he was.
Thinking they had a lot of ways they could have gone, but picked (so far) a really great way to go with this. Hope they keep going this way!
I agree. Because it’s so intelligently plotted, it shakes off the feel of some kiddie fodder (that I was afraid it might have been, until I actually saw it.) I’m eager to see where they’re taking us. Pennyworth is a fascinating, complex character—-and you never even think of, or wish for, Batman at all. That’s some great writing, in my book.
Well, Rhys-Meyers did an excellent, very physical role as Heahmund in “Vikings” so it will be fun seeing what he can do here. The trailer shows some skilled moves by the principals.
A fabulously funny ending to a zany, uproarious series! I was hooked from the very beginning, years ago, and laughed my ass off every single episode! This is one show the Brits really hit out of the park, with lovable scene-stealer Grumio and his hapless mates stumbling and fumbling their way through life in ancient Rome. Perfect casting!
I wasn’t sure the show would be back after the pandemic, so I was really pleased to hear that we were getting this series wrap-up movie bringing the characters’ story arcs to a hilarious close. Delightful! 😊
This was just painful to watch…..The Flash was probably my favorite show on these days and now it’s turned into whatever this is!! Just sad Lol If your a fan of the series I’d skip this one and the last 7 haha
Yeah, this show has gotten pretty bad, but Supergirl’s writing is a lot worse as it nears the end. I thought the Frost story was kind of decent this episode. Still miss the stretchy man, though. :-(
This turned out to be a fun time-waster that was a bit better than I went in thinking it would be. The premise was good, especially the augmented-human concept, but things began to drag a little during the middle and I found myself replaying some bits due to garbled dialogue and/or lapses in logic or abrupt editing. The music was good and helped maintain moodiness throughout. The movie ended in a way that I hadn’t quite “mentally written the script” lol and was kind of a teaser. A couple of the actors I knew from other things, so that was a plus.
Here’s an extremely cool 70’s conspiracy tale with many beloved actors of the time doing an excellent job of scaring the audience to death with the very idea of a lust for power that is so great it overrides all decency. George Peppard (R.I.P) chills as Tuxan, the implacable, amoral investigator of the story. The late Michael Sarrazin is perfection as Tuxan’s quarry. The movie keeps us guessing, wondering who’s who and what’s what, right up to the end. We question what we see along the way, and what we think we understand as the plot unfolds. It’s one of those old movies that stick with you long years afterward, with a kind of unsettling relevance in the modern day. Yesterday I rewatched “The Parallex View” and got the same sort of vibe, all these years later, all over again. Recommended.
Yay! Another in the “Wrong” series! These are always funny and melodramatic. Thanks uploaders:-)
Thanks to all uploaders who handled that issue here of incorrect episodes for these links. Very grateful for that! The series is a good one for students of the topic, with excellent, unobtrusive narration plus spot-on commentary offered by historians and experts. I was most impressed that, in every episode, there were a couple of facts that were new to me—-and that is always a pleasant surprise for longtime students of any subject they’ve been involved with for like forever. Well done.🙂
I’m not scandinavian but my understanding is that Icelanders tend to still use the patronymic naming system in the same way the entire Norse culture originally did. The rest of the Scandinavian countries use “surnames” like most of the rest of western countries. Many Scandinavian surnames are derived from the old patronymical names, usually in the masculine form of -son or -sen.
Ah! Thank you so much for the response. That helps me understand a bit better. I’ve asked some form of this question for awhile now, and you are the only one who knew something:-) I even wondered if -sson and -dottir could be in the various names of some siblings.
Absolutely! Respect the Wind is one of my all time favorites of his! After I saw the movie Twister, I went to find out what that song was etc etc! I also love Women in Love! The intro is pure EVH!
Another movie I’ve watched recently That makes some sense along the way, until the unnecessarily odd ending. Plot exposition drags a lot in the middle.
Hey, got a notification that you made a post on my wall, but can’t suss out how to get to my wall, can get to yours though? Seems a tad bit different here, not much though.
Go to your name, top right of this page; click it—-it takes you to your profile page. Your wall should show up there if you scroll down a bit….
One of my absolute favorites. We just don’t get this quality anymore.
Thank you, uploaders!!!! Just what I wanted to see once again! (This was the type of offering that “Black Mirror” would do, only many years earlier.)
Yup, sad to see the old one go, but we can rebuild. Shot you a friend request.
I Loooove Von Stroheim and w/the angelic Fay Wray - thanks for the tip on this one! I hadn’t heard of it before!
I enjoy crazy old fantasy “epics” like this, based on rollicking, wild fictional books and stories. Of course, given that this film is very old, the actors seem stilted, as was customary in the time period. In many scenes, it’s more of a stage-play than anything else. Great rousing score, though—-and I loved the fun dance scenes with those creative moves for males and females. If you’re an old-movie buff that enjoys things like The Invisible Ray, The (original) Mummy, La Belle et La Bête etc. then you might find some fun here (although the ones I just mentioned are far superior.) This is an early version of H. Rider Haggard’s story, and there have been lots of later film versions.
the picture is jerky, but this is the best copy of the movie that i could find on the internet
I’m a longtime fan of his, but Tom Sizemore REALLY looks unhealthy. I hope he’s okay.
The movie is from Asylum Group, so you know what that means. Some fun, some nonsensical plot points; the usual.
Great episode. Looking forward to a second season.
I think the episode got something right when the ne’er-do-well son mended his relationship with his estranged mom, the cop, prior to her death. That seemed real and made story-progressing sense after their cave misadventure earlier. I liked it.
BUT the entire season still feels as if it might have been condensed into a mere 2-hour first episode. The cliffhanger isn’t fun. That’s just a subjective opinion.
Adrian Dunbar’s name in the credits drew me to this one; he is a strong presence in every show I’ve seen him in. He’s good here as a retired detective who is lured back to the job to help out, putting his singular talents to use - and he sings, too. (see what I did there? LOL)
I’ll stay with the show; I enjoy mysteries.
Lots of fun here! Others have mentioned the resemblance to kaiju like Gojira and Kong, and that’s very apt to describe this. The big-bad isn’t your normal monster, as he comes from legends and myths we almost never see or hear of in movies today. The human characters are pretty typical, but the old father stands out as the first one who really gets the situation and runs with it. I think it’s worth a watch; be sure to turn on subs.
S04E13 Legend Trippers is my fav episode by far. I can only watch this series during the day, freaks me the hell out.
For me, it was the one about “Summerwind” in the first season. Really got under my skin in the night
